The rear shocks on my 2011 Lucerne Super with Magnetic Ride Control and automatic load leveling are no longer functioning. The car rides very stiff in the rear and the repair shop I took it to said the shocks are frozen. The car only has 44,000 miles on it and 2 years ago the front struts went bad. I replaced those with the Strutmasters kit that contained resistors to override the computer code errors due to the magnetic ride control. I did not notice any difference in the handling after installing the front conversion kit.

Now that it's time to fix the back and I am leaning towards using the Strutmasters kit (CL1RB) for the rear which converts it to a normal (non-auto leveling) system and I am looking for input from anyone else that may have gone down this path. The Strutmaster kit contains a new spring, shock, mounting accessories and resistors for the sensors.

My other consideration is the Arnott replacement shock (AS-2950) that is still an air shock that works with the leveling system, but does not make the minute adjustments that the Magnetic Ride Control does with the existing system.

The Arnott shocks are about a $100 cheaper than the Strutmaster kit as it only contains the shocks and sensors where the Strutmaster kit has springs and shocks.

I am planning to hang on to this car for a long time and that is why I am leaning towards the Strutmaster system as it eliminates other components (compressor, sensors, etc) that could go bad in the future. Both companies offer limited life-time warranties.

I am open to other recommendations or alternatives as well.

    Thank You...Gary
