What cars came with the 200r4 trans? How much horsepower will one of these things take. Considering one for my street rod. Are they electronic and need a computer? Do they use the Chevy pattern? Seems like I read somewhere they are the same length as a 350 turbo.

200R4's came in 80's Monte Carlo SS, GN, 442's, and in some other cars. If they are beefed up, they can handle alot of power (lotsa money to do so) No computer needed, just a switch for the lockup torque converter. They have a universal bolt pattern.

Weren't the Corvettes also 200r4? Either way, if you're looking for something Chevy-ish that's a little more heavy duty I would suggest you consider Corvette parts.

My 200 came from a mid-80's Caddy and it was beefed up before going behind the 455. The previous owner did all this, but the invoice for the 200 rebuild was about $1300.

200r4's are, from what I hear, a top of the line perf. tranny! Welcome aboard, nice to see another fellow Iowan Buick person. :Comp:
