same price, bigger motor , bigger brakes , and a few other updates. oh.. and in the 12's from the factory
doesn't look bad for a 400hp / 400tq , daily driver, bit of a sleeper, but thats what you want to scare todays ricers.
I'ver seen one up close, and it's not very impressive looking. Well, not compared to my 2000 Trans Am WS6 Convertible, anyway. (sold.) Frank
For a stock high performance car, that's awesome........unfortunately, the car is just plain UGLY. :bglasses:
12 second factory car, best interior in its class. solid chassis , great handling. yet from the replies, yer itchin to comlain about stuff... true ?
meh... deluded old guys that think GTO was something more than a hopped up grand Am/Prix, tempest or plain jane lemans... :Smarty: a rwd 12 second factory car is not good enough for these guys anymore.. :moonu: I think GM should just stop trying, and ramp up production for more SUV's , its a shame really , you guys have had your glory days, but are too sour to let others enjoy it, or to even give props or even acknowledge GM is trying...  sorry if i came across rude guys.. ive always respected your thoughts and opinions. but what youre saying is rediculous, it looks like a GRand prix, can't you differentiate cars from one another ou: , or is it because of the pontiac grill. o No:
The SSR is also getting the LS2 instead of the LS1. Im not thrilled with that "truck"s styling either but at lesat GM is producing and installing potent power plants again. Sure beats the heck out of 3.4 V6's
I'm starting to like the car :Brow: I've seen a few 04's the 05's look alot better with the hood scoops and true duals the right way this time :3gears: now if we could get rid of that sb chevy motor..........well from what i've been reading.... it's not really a sb chevy as we think of it uzzled: it's a hole new motor o No: uzzled: I'll take that silver one :bglasses: :TU:
count me out on the old guys comment i am gettin kind of old, but I LOVE this car-will buy one wheni can afford it (probably not b4 06 though, because of finances) while i find the o4 kind of bland to loook at, i have sat in one and the interior is extremely well done and from there, i could only see a little of the outside anyhow-and the 05 is just icing on the cake. 400/4000, 6 speed, rwd-THIS CAR IS ME!!! :Brow: :3gears:
Scott, yup if I had the $$$ I'd buy one. You're right when inside you can't see what it looks like anyway. :Brow: I'll just have to wait and buy a used one in 5 years at one third price. My last new car was in 1972 (Opel Manta Rallye) Bruce
I think it's a cool car,BUT IT AIN"T A BUICK!!! Maybe if GM would give the platform to rest of the divisons and let them put the drive train of their making they would be on the right track.
True but sadly Buick seems to be going the other direction with the LaCrossedup. The 97-2004 Regal GS is a 13 sec car with a few hundred $$$ of bolt-ons. Has a performance following (RegalGS.org). Don't see any performance in the new lineup. Plus the Rivs gone.... Maybe they will wake up but I wouldn't count on it. :ball: Bruce
I like it. Everyone has to remember it's a 2005, not a 1965 GTO. What did you expect it to look like? But of course I own an STi, not the prettiest car but goes like stink!
I'll predict that the 2005 Mustang will outsell the '05 GTO by a BUNCH (again). PHR had nothing but good to say about the 'stang BTW.
I think people also don't realize, or forget, that it wouldn't have existed at all had the Monaro not been already sporting the LS1 down under. This wasn't a new design car, it was the adaptation of something currently in production elsewhere for the US market. They obviously missed some marks in year one, and the hope that making the car what it was to begin with - a plane jane car with a top of the line motor - wasn't enough for today's performance mind. But now that the ball is rolling, the plans to continue the line should be seen as a good thing since it won't be a Monaro forever. Personally I don't need all the flash, but I'm not the average performance buyer. I guess even those of us who hate all the wings, spoilers, etc... of today's import crowd can't live without them on their domestic performance cars. I'm just hoping the bottom severly drops in this GTO market once they update it on its own platform. I'd be happy to be driving one of those bland LS2's if the lack of sales pushes a couple year old used one down into the mid teens in price! Or, I guess I could have just posted... "opinion, opinion, opinion, opinion, opinion, opinion, opinion, opinion, opinion, opinion, opinion, opinion, opinion, opinion, opinion, opinion, opinion, opinion, opinion, opinion, opinion, opinion, opinion, opinion, opinion" You're nuts if you don't agree.
You're right....not a sleeper anymore with spoiler and scoops. I Some people with the FWD Regal GS's even debadge completely so those that they beat don't even know that they have been BQUICKed. Plus the cops aren't drawn to them. o No: Bruce
