So what if it runs 10's on spray? It still runs 10's. BTW, about the "it looks like <insert other car here>" remark. I can pick out parts of one car and apply it to any other car *especially* nowadays. I really don't care what it looks like, but if it does look mean, it better have the cajones to back it up and it looks like it does.
I was up at the local Pontiac dealer the other day. They have a black and a red GTO. Nice, but I want to see what improvements they make next year. But, even if it was the same car, I would still buy it. We should all be thankful that GM even bothered to offer a rwd performance car. If they hear too much complaining it may go away. And then it's even harder to get something like that past the suits! I would have never figured even 10 years ago that they would be able to get higher horsepower cars past the Fed's and insurance companies! These really are the "good old days". Brian
My GTO is a 6 speed and as delivered went 102 mph in the quarter at 80 degrees air temp. Best ET was 14.0 because of severe wheel hop! Car weighs almost 4000 lbs with me in it. So not too bad. Dave
To Whom it may concern in the great beyond- We really really need Bill Mitchell returned to the living for a few years. Seems GM styling stinketh these days, and I feel that Bill can fix this problem. Thank you very much- Signed People who crave REAL styling
I do like the way the orange GTO looks more than the '04s. They still need to work on the rear tail lights and then stick the tail pipes out the rear, perhaps filling in the center of the rear valance with rectangular tips. Hey, A-Bomb, lighten up a little. The GTO ain't all that.
Popular Hot Rodding has a picture of what they say will be the '06 Goat. Drastic body changes from the one shown here. And the 400HP standard. Don't jump on this one yet.
:Brow: a local dealer has 3 of them a yellow 6 spd. and 2 black auto's this was my first up close look at one their not bad cars (smaller than I thought it would be) don't like no hood scoops.... looks too plain and hate  the duals out one side!!!!!! that SUX!!!!!!! I'd like a GS version of it........ but only with the turbo v6 :eek2: fat chance of that though oh ya.... the 05 is much better :bglasses: :3gears: :TU:
Im not going to blow my money on a pontiac...im waiting for GM to come out with a buick version to compete with GTO...That is, if they do make one! Come on GM, competition!:3gears:
I might consider buying a Buick version, but for the price GM wants lately I want some real chrome.........we all know the chance of that happening. :bglasses:
now about the red gto in the background . i have seen the pictures from the start to finish of the restoration . that gto is excellent resto . had a close look at it at the cruise when it was parked in pleasant ridge .
This information may have already been presented on this board, but here's a link to what's slated in terms of a rear-wheel drive Buick: Click here. My initial impression on the styling of the Velite is not jaw dropping, but it may grow on me. If it goes into production, we may never see a Buick production version of the GTO. I really like the styling on the Camaro though!
The 2005 GTO is already a 400HP LS2. Expected 0-60 is 4.8 or 4.9...try that with an old GTO. The wheel hop problems are being addressed. This LS2 is the same engine in the new vette, which will also get a 500HP version as the new Z06. So buy a GTO, some other parts like heads etc, and you will have a killer car with all the modern ergonomics, handling, safety and emissions. later Tim
The camaro thing sucks as it come down to if the CAW will let GM use the name Camaro / Firebird with out being sued to death. As they have an agreement to only make them in Canada. The GM/UAW/Canada agreement is that St. Therese will be the only plant to build Camaros/Firebirds. So they can not build a new one. Sure than can name it different but no Camaro or Firebird unless the CAW let us. As it will not be built in Canada.
Did you read the article in thye link posted above? The plant is being torn down right now. Once gone, who knows how it will turn out...another plant somewhere else, or perhaps another lucrative deal from Quebec (who always cut their own throats with the bilingual requirements). later Tim
Who really knows...like any big company, what gets said in in public and what really goes on are two different things....hopefully they bring it back. If its close to that concept in the article, will be a neat machine... ater tim
