What is would the easiest (and cheapest) way to beef up a 200-4r to take a Buick 350's power. The motor will be pretty much stock for a little while, but I wanna get it up to at least 300 hp.

get one from grand nat/turbo regal or monte ss with shift kit and big external cooler.will hold up depending on condition and how much you beat on it.
biggest problems would be second gear band parts/accummulator and valve body if not from these cars.dont run a big stall either it creates alot of heat which will damage trans.

This tranny has alot of things going for it. With a 3.73, in o/d it becomes a 2.49! With the o/d and lockup converter, my mileage was great! Problem was, my 462 brutally murdered two of them! Both were mildly built up and one was out of my T-Type. I hear they can be beefed up pretty good, but it didn't work for me! Good luck! :3gears:

I got one from Jim Burek. Don't remember the cost but it wasn't cheap. Nevertheless, it is great gearing and nearly bulletproof. I highly recommend it.

I use a stock 2004R ( full size olds or buick with 307 ) trans in my 64 with SBB now and it works great and in my RX7 w 350 chev the stock 2004R works good if you make a lot of power look at spending between 1800-2200 and is well worth it

A tranny from advance auto is going to be rebuilt as cheaply as they can with no mind to high performance. If you are going to drop a grand or more I'd call Art Carr or someone like that. Sorry, just my 2 cents from someone who has already had big torque / metric tranny headaches :ball: . I doubt their warranty is valid if the thing is grenaded.

best price for beefed trans might be from bowtie overdrives.
895 for level 1 which would be beter than advance for how long it would last.
if you want cheap just get a core and find a local shop to rebuild, maybe you get lucky and he knows upgrade and will work with ya.
