I have a 200 4r tranny in my 83 t-type I notice once the tranny gets up to normal operating temperature the tranny starts shifting funny. When shifting it will shift from 1st into 2nd then in 3rd really quick almost by-passing 2nd gear then it seems like it takes forever to shift up into 4th and it shifts kind of hard, and once I come to a stop the tranny takes forever to down shift and it seems like the car will stall, but then it finally down shifts. I have checked the fluid level and it seems fine, I have no leaks, and the car does not smoke at all. Is their anything I can check or do without pulling the tranny out. Could the filter be clogged or can the tranny cooler in the radiator be bad let me know what you guys think, the car has about 76,000 original miles on it but it hasn't been really driven for a year1/2 until now. let me know what you think!! :Do No:

TV cable adjustment is critical on these transmissions. I would check that. I'm not really familiar with the adjustment procedure, but this will help.

The TV cable adjustment is critical. Larrrys link is a good one and it does not hurt to reset the TV cable. I have to reset mine anytime I take the carb off. On the other hand is does not sound like a TV cable problem. Could make a lot of guesses but you need to have the tranny checked quickly before you break parts. Your transmission is not real expensive to rebuild to a stock level unless you trash it. Hope you have a good tranny shop near you.
