I am reluctantly thinking of selling my 2 nailhead longblocks. I just wanted to post the casting numbers before I decide to sell. I think one is a '66 and the other is a '65. Can anyone tell me for sure?

    Engine 1: Block- MT 347 6H222804
    Heads- 1374603

    Engine 2: Block- LT 601 5H327795
    Heads-B-1347603-E

Engine #2 was from a '65 225 that I believe was it's orig. I am also thinking about selling the Alum drums and the er, um Posi rear. Need cash and space fast. I have a post in parts for sale forum.

    Thanks,

    D.

    Rick, Greg,

Thanks for that great input. You guys think we should have a sticky on those #'s? It may help us all in the long run.

No MX in 66. The 425 2x4 is MZ. Also forget the 66 Gran Sport Skylark engine that is coded MR.

Daryn do either of these engines run? I am in the market for a good running nailhead.

And you (man or woman without a name in your signature...), forgot to mention the 66 MR coded 400(401) engine...[IMG]

    Time to sell.

I've decided I need to sell these engines.

Engine #1 longblock only-no accys. has bottom end knock. I replaced bearings once but knock came back. Probably needs crank turned. It had been rebuilt just before I got it. The guy said it had a knock and he didn't want to mess with it. Everything else seems nice. No intake, no exhaust manifolds. Timing cover included. $350

    Engine #2
I started to take it apart. I think it needed a head gasket. Sold with intake and exhaust manifolds, and Y-pipe. Front cover needs a bolt hole fixed. No other accys. $375

These 2 are rebuildable, or could use both to make 1.

Dude, why do you come across so damn glib all the time? :puzzled: If everyone just searched EVERY time, this site would turn into a stale reference group. :Smarty: Some ?'s are repeated true. And some people who may have recently gained "old info" may not mind helping out another member, since they now have the oppurtunity to do so! :Dou: Looks like Greg didn't mind!!!( Thanx Greg) :beer

P.S. BTW I see you LOVE to use that lil' pokey smiley all the time. That speaks volumes. I gotta feelin' that the lil' blue guy is gonna jack that stick right outta his hand and stick it up it's you-know-what one day. :moonu:

    It's simple:

I scanned a lot of Nailhead info and posted this on the board, somebody suggested that post should be a sticky, but it's not happening...... :Do No:
So that's why I think the best next thing is to put a sticky on your search button.

And for that stick: thickness counts :Smarty:

Am currently building 2 nailheads. One is an aluminum cylinder heads, aluminum Howard's rods, and Ross lite-weight pistons, stroker engine. The casting number on the block is 1364704 and is definitely started as a 401 C.I. block (the bore was 4.188), which I don't see listed above. The other block is the same part number, but I don't know the bore size as of now. Thanks, Gary in N.Y.

Gary, you may not be building a Nailhead if you have Aluminum heads for it. If you do have aluminum heads for it, where did you get them and lets see some pics!

The 1364704 is listed in the numbers posted-it is probably a 425, but some of this info may be incorrect-it is possible 1364704 IS a 401.

I hope it's a pair of "Nailheads" or I'm in BIG trouble! My customer's payin' for 2 of 'em. I don't know how much the pictures are gonna show, they almost look like the irons except for the exhaust ports. At the moment I'm concentrating on the "401" block. This one will see iron heads and all the lite-weight parts. I'm actually working on the heads right now and I believe I can get some decent airflow through them. They're on the flow-bench being tested right now. It'll be topped off with a "nostalgia" Hillborn injection setup. Thanks, Gary
