My friend Rick with his 1970 455 GS meets at shows once in awhile and is always telling me about another 1972 Flame Orange Stage 1 he knows in the area. So today at the Cass County Fair car show it shows-up! WOW, 2 Code 65 Stage 1's in the same place! It was really neat to see another one next to mine. Mike's is a black vinyl top, black interior with a 4-speed #'s matching motor and tranny, mine is a white interior auto #'s matching all the way from carb, dist. motor, tranny and rear. The Aqua Mist 70 is auto, pearl interior and I think matching # also. Really very cool to see all 3 together because I rarely ever see another GS let alone at the same time.
I have been trying to get these two guys and cars together for a while now! I drive my GS to shows around the KC MO area, usually the only one. It was great to have two 72's meet their twin!! 72 stage1 (Brent) also won 3rd place in the original muscle class. The pictures you see here are at Brent's house in the shade, because it was 103 degrees. Rick
Sweating with the oldies! Good time, really enjoyed it. Interesting, would not of believed that another Flame Orange Stage 1 was in the metro..small world!
Yes it was great to talk, small world. Still can't get over yours is a 4 speed, I'm so jealous. My next Stage 1 will definitly be a 4 speed, but I'll need more garage space first. I wish we would have done a video of alittle nostalgic country road drag race, nothing serious, but sure would have been cool. Maybe next time.
I may be a little biased but both those colors look great on a '70 & '72 GS. Thanls for posting the photos.
I totally agree, but even though I own the Flame Orange my favorite color combo is the 70 Aqua Mist with white interior, thee only way to make it better is a white vinyl top....super classy!
My dad's '70 GS was originally triple brown but he decided to change the color and he chose Aqua Mist and it will also have a white interior. A friend of his has a '70 Stage 1 that is an original Aqua Mist with a white interior and a white vinyl top and after seeing that car he has always wanted one like it. I agree that it is super classy. Our '72 GS convertible is Flame Orange with a white interior and white top and I think that is a great color combo too.
Gary, I always check the thread about your dad's Aqua car. It's neat to see the progress. My car was painted in 1997 and it still looks good. I know that once your dad's car is done, it will attract many people (especially the ladies) at shows and cruise nights because of the color. Rick
The photo of your car in the Garage section is a great shot. I'm going to show the photos of your car to my dad, he will love it. We haven't seen many with this color combo. My wife has a '70 Nova that is Aqua Mist (Chevy called it Misty Turquoise) with a white painted roof, it looks good but the Buicks just seem to wear the color much better.
There are not many aqua cars out there. I saw a Chevelle painted Misty Turquoise once at a car show in Kansas and haven't seen any other Chevys in that color again. I prefer the Buick version!
