I just bought a 95 riviera sc and the traction control off light comes on by itself and does not go off until you restart the car. I have noticed that as soon as the wheels break free the light comes on. I came roast the tires so it clearly isn't working. Any ideas guys?

Herb, your Riviera has a problem in the traction control system. I would suggest that you bring your car to a competent mechanic to have him scan the computer system for a trouble code. I know from past experience there is a traction control solenoid which sometimes goes bad and will trigger the light.

    gs4u2c Is that a 442?

The other possibility (though not real probable in your case) is that the front and rear tires may be a different size. If they are, that can confuse the computer and it will disable the traction control.

Thanks Tim but all the tires are the same size? Any other thoughts guys?

The '95's were notorious for having some ABS control module go on them.....not terribly cheap fix either. :Dou:

Do a search for all the TSB's/recalls on the '95 Riv's.

You'll need to have someone scan the computer.
