I know this is a bit off the premise of the board, but, I have a friend with a 1991 Park Avenue, 3.8 tuned port engine. It lost one of the coil pack cylinder pairs, no spark. He changed the coil pack (it has 3 sets of coils in one unit, dual wire per 'coil').

I asked IgnitionMan about losing just one coil of the pack, and he said he didn't have a lot of experience with the distributorless systems as far as trhe actual components, but, that it could be a coil, the computer not sending a signal for one of the ignition units, or the ignition module (one "driver" for the dead coil).

Anyone have info/experience with losing just one coil out of the pack being a definite ignition module problem?

I looked on the net for more info, found a few people that had encountered module issues, but nothing really definitive.

    Thanks for any info.

    Regards,

Well, my friend got so frustrarted with his Park Avenue, he gave it to me, literally, free.

I replaced the ignition module and module connector plug and wire set, and it is back to being a nice Buick again, and I am one Park Avenue Ultra richer.

Total cost was just under $200.00 with the module, wiring connector/wiring and the coil pack my friend replaced before he gave me the car.

It drives very nice, power laden.

    Regards,
