He’s pretty much in line as long as everything works as it should and no ABS light. $3k US and around 91k miles. $2500 would be target
Aren't these things slated to be a future collectible? From what I recall, they didn't make or sell too many of these. Are they any good? And lastly, I'm 6'8", would a guy my size even fit? A Rivi from the same era was an impossible fit. Always had a bit of a soft spot for one of these, I have no idea why though.
I don't know about 6'8" Marc, I am 6' and am totally comfortable in them. I have had 6 of them now, love them. They are ultra comfortable to travel in(the 16 way seat option is a must have) , have nice trunk space for a 2 seater, ride great and give you 30 mppg easily on the highway. The 3800 is more than adequate for them, not speed demons for sure, but more than enough for what they are, a luxury GT tourer. Their prices are starting to climb, the convertibles (2372 sold to public) will always be way above in value as they made a handful in comparison to the coupes (just over 19K). They are extremely reliable cars, there are a few gremlins to watch for, but the Reatta group on the AACA/BCA forum page has everything you ever wanted to know about diagnosing issues and fixing them. I like the 88/89's in a coupe since you get the nifty CRT display, that was pretty high tech for that period of time. The convertible styling has always been highly regarded by critics and it's easy to see why. They were not cheap when new ranging from $25K for a coupe in 88 to $37K for a convertible when they came out. There were two extra cost options, the 16 way seats and a CD player - OK a cell phone could be had as well on the early ones I have had them ranging from just over 5K miles to just under 200K miles and loved them all. Here are all of mine I have had. .
Thanks Keith! I guess the next time one is offered locally I'm going to have to go and check it out. Are the convertibles reasonably quiet and wind noise free at highway speeds, or are they loud at highway speeds like the late sixties stuff is? (the infamous "flying tent" syndrome)
With top up they are as quiet as the coupe, maybe more so, the top is very well insulated and you don't have the big glass window and rear cargo area to echo sound. Top down they are still very comfortable with only minor wind, I rarely travel with my top up and have traveled as far as 14 hours in them. BTW,the Reatta has a manual top and it is a work of art. Really easy and quick with no worry of mechanical issues. The Allante also has a manual top but isn't half as user friendly. The only thing power is the tonneau release that is in the storage cubby behind the drivers seat.
Thanks! They look like a neat little car; - and judging by the pics, you kept yours in gorgeous condition.
