1978 riviera rear end advice needed

    I race a 78 rivi and the rear end is gone bad what other G/M rears will fit ?? actually last year some 1 hit the wall and bent pass side axle so trying to remove axle found the retainer pin is frozen up / bent or something but the darn thing wont budge heat- BFH -nothing will move it so gotta find other way to get on the track by 4-07 04 rest of car is has been gone over by me I am not a cert. mech but can bust knuckles as well as most lol

    The 75-79 Rivs were based on the LeSabre chassis. So, any GM B-body from those years will work, such as Bonneville, Olds 88/08. Chevy Impala/Caprice, etc. You should have no problem finding one of them.

    I know what you're talking about......the long bolt that goes into ths side of the carrier that prevents the cross shaft from coming out. Good luck on that one.....I've had that happen to me a couple times changing axle seals on those cars. You will never get the cross shaft to come out with the broken bolt pin in there.

    I always sent those away, but I'll bet you could try drilling it out if there's enough room for a small angle drill to fit. Then go in with an ez-out to remove the broken pin? Only thing I can think of.:puzzled:
