Hi all, Been quite a while since I was last talking on here. I own a 76 Buick that's been in a private storage out of town for about 12 years. I've recently retired and the time has come where I need to get that baby back home and get working on it. I will be renting a float trailer to move it soon. Can anyone direct me to where I can find car dimensions, weight specs or a general catalog on the vehicle. First I have to carve out a spot in the workshop to fit it. Thanks in advance
This is what I use for basic specs. https://www.automobile-catalog.com/...lectra_4gen_hardtop_coupe/1976.html#gsc.tab=0 Nice looking car BTW.
Hi Lexus! Thanks for the info and the nice car comment as well! Checked out that web site, and it looks informative and useful. Was out yesterday to fill the tires and take it down off the stands. Found that the passenger side rear "molded cowling", (not sure if that's the proper term) that surrounds the tail light had disintegrated in a couple of pieces on the floor. Appears as though its some type of composite plastic material?...dunno. Its been stored out of the weather, up on blocks etc. so its been out of the elements. Anyway there's a fix needs to be done there. Thanks again Walter!
I believe you are talking about the taillight surround? Those do go bad especially if the car sat outside a lot. You've probably seen 70's Cadillacs with the same problem. Believe it or not, there is supplier for those. Or at least there used to be. Haven't looked into them since at least before Covid.
Quick googly search finds these guys-don’t know the quality… https://ekbumperfillers.com/?s=76+electra Patrick
Sounds like you're on about the bumper filler and not the quarter panel extensions. Replica Plastics makes the best fitting replicas for the 1974 to 1976 Electras, but you still need to trim them a wee bit. Passenger side bumper filler: Click image to visit the website
Actually, thanks to accurate information shared by you gents, I am embarrassed as my part location and description was pretty lame. I am indeed referring to the "quarter panel extensions". Sorry for my mistake there guys. I mistakenly described it as the part surrounding the tail light....which is the bumper fillers in that case. Having said that, and now that I have the car home, (woo- hoo) I have since discovered the deterioration of the "bumper fillers" as well. They totally are crumbling too. I have also read that these parts do break down even if the car is stored indoors. Thanks to all for chiming in. Great stuff !
