I have found a 1976 Apollo with a Posi. What options were available and how could I identify? Thanks, Bill
If it is an 8.5 10 bolt, everything is available. http://jdrace.com/diff_id/10b85.htm Take a picture of the rear cover straight away, and where the rear u-joint is retained to the rear yoke.
Thanks Larry! It is an 8.5 but I was wondering if there were any markings that would tell me the gear ratio? I have a friend going to check it out and I don't want him to tear into it. Thanks, Bill
I'm sure there are. If anyone has a 76 chassis manual, it will tell you there. Probably stampings on one of the axle tubes. I just looked on TeamBuick.com, but the latest they have is a 75 manual. Probably not the same. Looks like all they had standard was the 2.56, 2.73, and 3.08. The Posi codes were JU, JR, and JX respectively.
Apollo came with 7.5 and 8.5 rears. Send a picture to be sure. Axle tube passenger side like a chevy I think by this time they are all on that side.... Jim
