This summer I converted my brown 75 LeSabre ragtop to a posi unit, it is a BOP 8.875 rear with no after market support.
The only rear gear I could find at the time was a 2.93 to replace the 2.73 open
While searching the web today I found this on rockauto a 3.08 which is what I was looking for.
Will this be the correct gear for my 8.875 rear end?

    DORMAN Part # 697307 More Info {#1258709, 26037732} Ring & Pinion; Differential Type; 10 Bolt 308
Rear; 3.08 Axle Ratio; 8.5 In. Ring Gear (Only 4 Remaining)

It also appears that they used this rear end in 77-79 Cadillac Deville's so I could always swap the 2.93 to my Caddy and use the 3.08 in the LeSabre

One has a 8.875" ring gear while the other has a 8.5".

That's strange because it shows on RockAuto as the correct ring gear for a 75 LeSabre?

Don't believe everything Rockauto publishes. They seem to make a lot of mistakes.

The boattail rivs, the GS models had the big rear and in posi. I believe they came with 308's and 323's. I put one in my old 73 LeSabre and it worked well. Check into the 72-75 rivs

Also hit monzaz on the board here. He is the man when it comes to rear ends. He knows everything you need to find out. He may even have a ring and pinion for you bro.

I did a similar swap. But I did the entire rear, a '71 Catalina 3.08 posi into my 75 Electra with the 2.56 open,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

1975 Did come with the 10 bolt 8.5 rear and the 12 bolt 10 bolt cover (ponitac) mid powered rear
AND even the 12 bolt ring and 12 bolt covered olds rear will fit your car from 1971-1976 which again has NO RING AND PINIONS in the aftermarket

10 bolt 8.5 is the only one that has aftermarket support.

WE are still trying to make a custom rear for the FULL SIZE CARS. Just been VERY busy trying to get this done.

Oh problem with custom stuff.... will not be cheap. :(
