Looks like a pretty cool car. How about that Hood ? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Buic...ategoryZ6136QQihZ005QQitemZ150081942334QQrdZ1 <img src="http://image3.autorevo.com/788/pics/65009_e82455b7-21e9-4f58-a69e-89a1ff7af55b.jpg"></a>
Not sure if this is a real stage one, the 455 HO package is not a stage 1. All 1974 Stage 1 motors had the electronic ignition and this one looks like a point distributor. Nice car but I think it may be just a regular 455 GS. Any feedback on this from our resident experts would be appretiated
Red dash with red carpet and wite seats and it says it is original. Can anyone verify this combo was available? iIt seems odd to me.
I have a good buddy that used to have a 74 Century. He worked at Packard Electric when he ordered it Class A. He just retired from there recently. Anyways, when he ordered the car, I remember it had some cool options on it too. It was dark blue outside and it had 2 Tone Interior like that, with dark blue and white. Not sure about the Red but I do know you could get 2 Tone blue and white o No: Dom
By the Vin it is indeed a Stage 1. The interior choice was also available in 73-74 and there were 478 Stage 1 cars built in 74. There are more than 10 Stage 1's left as well and the am/fm radio is bogus. Almost all 73-74 GS cars I have seen as well as Centurys had them. Ithink someone made the stripes on their own...
Well, Cadillac was doing that in '74, I think Buick was too. o No: I know the '74 Apollo GSX was Red/White inside. http://www.pontiacventura.com/1974_buick_apollo_gsx.htm Sounds like something that would have been popular at the time. And that definitely is an HEI in there!
It's a shame that many of those GSX's (including the one on that site) were six cylinder cars... but I sure tried to find a GSX before getting the blue jewel.
Interior is correct, it is the same two color option as my 1974 GS 455, I just could not see if it was HEI in the picture from the angle. I guess I am getting old and my eyes are going. He did mention a HO 455 option and that is another engine option for 1974, and that is a different engine option than the Stage 1(I happen to have that in mine), see attached order form. Being skeptical of all e-bay auctions I assume it is not correct unless proven otherwise. Also I am slightly jealous of the fact that this car is a stage 1, and mine is not:ball:  I attached a picture of a 1974 GS order sheet so you can review all available options, if anyone is truely interested in this car. You will see that everything checks out here
Here is the interior in mine including optional Gym bag and sunglasses, FYI those seats have lumbar support and they tilt. Pretty cool for a GS Eh:Brow:
John, are you saying that this car checks out as far as you can tell from the VIN? I don't know ANYTING about 73/74's but I like this one! How much should a buyer expect to pay?:Brow: David R
David, Yes the V in the vin designates a Stage 1 car. I would like to see the cowl tag to decipher a theory I have. Though it may not be answered. Would also like to see the official documents he has with it as well...However...The hood stripes are not correct on this car either is the Gran Sport sticker on the trunk. Also, the distributor is indeed an HEI. Correct appearing as well...
Dave, It checks out as far as the options on the build sheet, I just went through this when I purchsed my 74 GS in October. I thought th seats were incorrect too, but they are indeed a option for that year. The VIN also checks out, as well as having the HEI (even though I was unable to ID it from the picture). As mentioned the Hood Decals even though they look cool, are not stock as with the Stage 1 trunk decal that goes with them (not Stock). All of this could easily be fixed, as mine had Pinstripes and Grand Sport Painted on and also is not correct, In addition the bone head painted the vinyl top a different non stock color. I suspect mine was an older restoration (and this one too), done when OEM style decals were not being reproduced. I could also see driving this car as is even though it is not totally correct. The decals remind me of a Pace Car like look. Bottom line this is a very cool and rare GS if it checks out, and it looks legit on the surface. I too would want to see the papers, if I was to pay top dollar. I wish I had a unlimited supply of space and money, if so this would be one I would like to have (depending on price of course):TU:
Thanks John, I am biding on the car but don't know how long i will stay in. however any thoughts as to the value would be great. I just wanted some of the more knowledgeable 73/74 guys input. Thanks David R
Send me a PM and I will confidentially tell you what I paid for mine:beer You never know I may want to sell it some day
I found the GSx Duane bought for a father son project in my alley for 300.00 . Very little rust none in the floors . The front end wasa damaged so he needs 2 fenders , Ther rr quarter is damaged also but the interior is old lady nice . It had a Buick 350 in it .:beer
If this car could be had for under 18K I think this would be a good deal. Any thoughts from anyone else?
I'm not real sure what the Trunk Pan is supposed to look like in these car's but, does it look to you like the Trunk has been patched ? o No: <img src="http://image3.autorevo.com/788/pics/65009_fff8dabb-24ea-4875-b41a-b4b0240667dd.jpg"></a> <img src="http://image3.autorevo.com/788/pics/65009_528727f3-b17d-4a73-bf77-e30aed722e60.jpg"></a>
