Yep Unless you do not have a Original rear underthe car .... ??? Always a possibility. ALL the 1971 -1976 rears interchange in that era. A pontiac rear could have that ratio 10 bolt cover with 12 bolt guts. 8.5 10 bolt cover with 10 bolt ring is stil lonly 3.42 3.73 3.23 also. ??? So. Maybe you should crack that thing open and read the ring gear edge outer diameter of the gear. THAN you will know for sure 13 42 3.23 12 41 3.42 11 39 3.55 Check it out... Jim J D
I'm now guessing that the rear is actually a 3:23. Was told by the owner that it was 3:55, but I don't know the big cars that well. Don't know wether to grab it or not.
NOT sure... MIGHT not have been any of them. I make the Pontiac 65-70 and 71-76 10 bolt cover and 12 bolt ring rears that FABCRAFT makes 3.55 gears for. They are 31 spline just like the 12 bolt OLDS full size 455 engine cars 1971-1976... But the ring is only 8.875 not the 9.3. Both are pretty strong. Here is a picture of one we have for sale that will fit the 65-70 era full size cars.
