I have a much nicer 74 on ebay right now for a lot less if anyone is interested. His price is astronomical even with the low miles, I know I have been trying to sell mine for a while. But I don't get frustrated because it such a great driver, I figure I can enjoy it until the right buyer comes along. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...m=120234062459&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=002
I am stunned that your cars both haven't sold. I have to agree that the market is bad now and it can't help that the gas prices are awful,so people are hanging on to their money to be able to survive. As a side note...I got my 73 out and stretched its rusty legs (and body) for a 15 mile drive today. Wish my 73's body was as nice as your two cars...
Yea but yours is more high buck than mine, and it a frame off so it is even nicer than mine. You know we have to test the waters a couple of times a year to guage interest, then I give up and just drive it and enjoy it. I have had offers on the car but I can't part with it unless I get a reasonable offer, I sure you are in the same boat. Is your car completed now?, if it is I want to see pictures. I always loved the color of that car. :TU: I have been doing small updates and improvements to the car so it looks and feels even better. Ever since I had Jim do some carb and Distributor majic for me the run like a top. There is just no appretiation for how nice the 73 & 74's are. I thought they said colonade cars are the next hot thinguzzled: Thanks for the comments, I was not expecting silence from you.
Well, it's now up to $17,900 with 2 days still left on the auction. You think it might actually get there? :kodak:
The ultra-low mileage factor (of originality) is so often difficult to predict & compare to other vehicle sales. There is a subgroup of potential buyers (speculators & purists) that will pay an enormous premium for this factor when the right chord is struck. Current Buyer's market aside, at least it's good for the broader value & recognition of the '73 - '75 GS's and specifically that this example will be preserved. With that green, it just might be the ultimate St. Patrick's Day Buick.
There was a guy in St. Louis who used to drag race a 73 Stage 1 just like it at Gateway International in the the early 80s. His name was Lance Marlett (I hope I spelled the name correctly). He was always a decent enough guy to talk to, and I believe a charter member of the GSCA. I wonder if this is his old car? I remember his car ran low 12s and had a vanity license plate that said 12 SEC. Ken
Lance is "Warped" on this board. I don't think his car was green. Maybe he'll see this and pipe in. I believe he lives down here in Ft. Worth now.
I could have swore his car was green. Maybe someone should send him a PM and ask him if this is his old car. Ken
Ken, I believe you are right. Some time back another member pm'd me about his car as well as Lance's I lost some info due to a big virus attack and lost the guys pm. I thought he said either Lance's or his is all torn apart, but I am getting older and may have dreamt it...lol
How do you know the people bidding are his friends? Could be just two people who have money and want the car real bad.
WOW!! Good thing I don't need another one. Put another 15K at least into it and you have a nice 73 GS. 16K miles thats cool. Still a lot of work to do but worth it imho. Mike I can't figure the rust out in the pics. I know they rusted fast, maybe this car sat outside ? There are a few things "modified" but looks true to me. I like to drive my cars and a 16 K car is a collector car. I hope it goes to a good home.
Phil , I still have the Suncoupe info for your 73 sititng here. I never got your mailing addy I can deliver it to BG if you want
Gee...when I sold my 4-speed car, which was much cooler and I liked much better than this car (even if this car does have less miles), I sold it for way less than that! I guess I let someone steal it!:eek2:
Well I stand corrected. I hadn't checked out the bidder histories. It does indeed look like the two top bidders are shills. I'll bet it gets reported soon. :Brow:
Ummm someone running up the price. That sounds a lot like that 70 Stage 1 convert 3 spd that ended up just 10.00 from the reserve. I watched as a simmilar deal where the second bidder had no history and kept a real buyer that had just bought a Hemi Cuda bidding higher. Once the REAL bidder reached the reserve the second guy dropped out. Well I think the Hemi owner realized he was being screwed and he retraced his bid. That left bidder 2 with a bid just 10.00 from reserve. I sent him a email stating that I wanted him to have this beautiful Buick which it is and I would send him the 10.00 so he could afford it. He was in the same city as the seller. I never heard form him about the offer of free cash! Another reason I hate Ebay although it is a nessessary EVIL sometimes
Why did they use 2yr old pictures? Very nice interior and a nice color...and from the pictures I’m thinking the miles are probably close. Perhaps the car was driven in the salt once or twice early on or maybe it was stored outside under a car port. That could explain the surface rust on the chassis. As for the black paint underneath, it looks as though someone was trying to keep it detailed. Back in the day it was very common for us to use a black "rattle can" to detail the chassis parts (at least those visible from the street) Did you notice the matching green paint on the air cleaner hold down? That along with other details, like the painted booster and undercarriage make me believe someone was hitting the local shows with it. Probably would clean up well. Something like this you gotta do a close personal inspection before handing over “The Jacksons.” It's a neat car I wouldn’t mind owning for about half the current 22k bid.
Well I've sent two reports to Ebay about the auction. I guess they don't agree with us about the shil bidding since the auction is still running.
