I have removed my N 25 for rechroming and have the opportunity to clean up things behind the bumper. I noticed that the rubber tail light surrounds/bumpers are held on with a variety of nuts, but I believe a barrel nut is the correct one. Does anyone happen to know for sure and happen to know a source? Thanks, Steve

I think they're called pal nuts.

Thanks Guys. Always nice to use the right terminology when searching these out. I have a good number from the car, so I can easiliy bring one along for show and tell. Local hardware store has some unusual fasteners, I'll try them first. Thanks again. Steve

the factory style are hard to find, the replacement rubber that i put on my ragtop came with speed nuts, but they do not fit right, had to scrounge thru my stash and use the factory ones that were not rotted, the studs like to snap real easy also, especially if they are factory original,if you take a pic you should be able to find them online, youll also need thread size, happy huntin

More thanks. I have some NOS surrounds, so threads are great and pretty sturdy. Anxious to get the bumper back, though at 17 degrees - no rush! Thanks Steve

Since originals are impossible to find, I ended up using what are called connector or coupling nuts.
Here's a pic next to one of the original pal nuts.
