Well, it didn't take me long to get another Buick after selling my first one. I've looked at it previously and decided to finally go for it as I've always wanted a Buick convertible. It is a 1972 Skylark Custom convertible with 67,000 original miles (it has the 350 2bbl, single exhaust - for now). The exterior is fire red with a white top and pearl white interior which was the combo I was looking for. All original body panels and paint with no rust. It has air conditioning, AM radio (doesn't work - but I'll do my hidden CD player in the underdash 8-track player when I get the chance), power steering/brakes (discs in front)/top, with convenience lighting and deluxe seatbelts. I got it from a guy selling it for the original 92 year old owner and have ALL the original paperwork and work done to the car since it was new. The Buick is a local car and came from Russell Buick in Huntington, Long Island. The weather decided not to cooperate so I had to drive her home tonight in a rain storm - no leaks! And I went fast enough to blow off all the water ;-) Here are a couple of pics - need to take more in the daytime so you can really see the color better (and the car didn't leak anything underneath - that spot under the car in some of the pics is a puddle that always accumulates in my driveway when it rains).
You looked at it once before and didn't bite??? Were you nuts? Glad you came to your senses, that car is HOT!
Congrats Chris. Geez you work fast! Glad you scooped that baby up. Wonder where Russell Buick was in Huntington?
As a side note, Chris' old car is now sitting in my garage! I got it from the transporter about 45 minutes ago. Can't wait to see it in the sunlight in the morning.
>>Let's just say I didn't pull a Jason Cook on this deal as the guy was holding firm to his price - which is why I had to wait to sell my car and some other things to afford it.
Chris, Time to change the Brown Sugar under your name now...Nice ride. Although I am not in the least a vert fan, That's most likely the color combo I'd get if I had to have one. Should be a nice car when you are done with it,as your last car was really nice too..
>>Russell Buick (from the original dealer's folder) 1039 Northern Blvd. Roslyn, NY 11576. Phone number 627-3852. What is interesting is that all the original paperwork include bill of sale for the '72 convertible is from Russell Buick but there is also another folder from Hagstrom Buick at 305 West Jericho Tpke, Huntington, NY and inside that folder is paperwork for a 1970 Harvest Gold with brown vinyl top Skylark with a noted high performance V8 engine - 350 cu. in. w/4 bbl carb, 285 HP. - I wonder if he still owns this Buick?
>>Awesome Fred! I'm glad the Buick made it to you so quickly - that driver must have driven all through the night with no stopping!
>>My Buick shopping list has already begun - I already have, have coming, or have leads on the following: underdash 8 track player (to hide a CD player inside - don't worry, it's a non-working unit) 15x7 and 15x8 Buick rally wheels (for 245x60x15 tires on the front and 275x60x15 tires on the rear) 1972 350 4bbl intake Rally gauges and 24hr clock GS hood bucket seats shorty console dual sport mirrors sport steering wheel and more to come!
Russell Motors is now East Hills Chevrolet. Damn, I was just in Roslyn today. I could of driven by. Hagstrom turned into Tom Rice, then Country. Now I think its closed right? My uncle took the white Riv to Hagstrom for warranty work when it was new.
>>Didn't the LIBC used to have their annual show at Tom Rice Buick? I do like the set up at Mack Buick better - I hope they stay in business!
Yes they did. The grass field they had at Rice was nicer. The place was much bigger. But by the time 4:00 rolled around Tom Rice was already in the bag and couldnt stand up for the awards.
>>Oh, that was Tom Rice - I must have been thinking of the one where the LIBC and POCI held their joint show. I did like the grass field for the cars.
>>My son was actually complaining that his feet didn't touch the pedals - he'll have to wait a few more years to drive it ;-)
