I have a friend looking for a 1972 olds 442 12 bolt differential posi carriage. He's trying to get it back on the road but can't find a posi pig for it. Nice car with a W30 engine but hard to find parts for. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Roger
Are you meaning the OLDS 12 bolt style rear end, or the CHEVY 12 bolt rear? There is either a 71 or 72 rear under a car in the local yard. Can't remember the ratio, but in either case Chevy or Olds, it won't be NEARLY as cheap as his other 'regular rears, if you have seen me talk about his usual low prices...
Oldsmobile made the 12-bolt O-axle for 1967-1970. It consisted of a 12-bolt cover with a 10-bolt ring gear,27-spline pinion, and bolt-in axles,no clips. If he has a 72 Cutlass/442,it should have the 8.5” 10-bolt. If he really does have the 12-bolt O-axle,it was swapped in there at some point in the car’s history. I have parts for those rearends as well as the 8.5” 10-bolt.
Brian I recall the friend helping him find parts telling me the rear end he has was a no clip rear end so you my have some parts he could use. If you could leave me contact info I can have him give you a call. Thanks Roger
