shift. Anyone? I have a 72 GS and I need a new column as trying to fix mine has become akin to trying to stick my finger in a collapsing dam. I fix one thing and 2 more go wrong. Anyway, I need a no tilt short column for a th350 manual column shift. My car is not moving much until I get one. Failing that, anyone know a person that can bring one of these back to life? I have sent it out to be rebuilt once and that lasted for about 2 years of light driving, then my mechanic is trying everything he can to save it but to no avail. Please if you have a lead or suggestion, I am on my last leg here. I have been restoring this car since 2003 and I have gotten a total of 1000 miles of actual drive time on it, and that included 2 trips of 350 miles round trip. Thank you in advance!

Man you are looking for a rare part there, you might have to expand your search to other makes as well as Buick didn't make many three speed column cars to begin with,I wouldn't think. Or possible convert to floor shift.

I would love it if you have one. Any idea how much you would want for it? Thanks!

Ok now...I found it this afternoon amidst my steering column pile...here goes:

1970 3 speed manual on the tree... RARE BIRD. Label states I've had it in storage since 12/84! I took it as you see it to the 95 GS Nationals because someone wanted it for $350 but never showed up :Do No: ...I brought it back with me and put it away because I kinda thought this day would eventually come. :TU: I believe its never been apart. It appears complete...ignition start & operation switch & rod intact and the neutral switch even has the original connector!! :Brow:
I disassembled it for these pix: Decent lever but the sig turnal operation itself seems a little stiff... ok,. . maybe a little dried out after what, like 41 years? Emergency on/off button intact and working. Both end bearings feel/sound ok..smooth decent condition. As you can see in the pix, I have several shifter LEVERS but I am not sure which one goes with this particular manual column setup? is your shift lever good? I really have no way of checking the actual shifting operation but I honestly believe this is a functional manual shift steering column, that SHOULD DEFINITELY be dismantled, thoroughly cleaned, greased up, switch operations checked, a little elbo-grease as far as sanding, priming and a few nice coats of Rustoleum semi gloss black paint... install YOUR ignition key assembly and you are ready!

Well, yea. . .I know its a lot more than that, but, at least you have found one to work on while you can still enjoy your RARE BIRD ride this summer!!!

Anyway Armand, take a look at the pix and then tell me....

    How does $245 shipped sound?

    Wheelz

I really appreciate you digging this one up, but I got an email from someone that has one off a 72 and looks just like mine and is in better condition visually. I'm going to go with that one. I know these are hard to come by so again I appreciate it. Looks like you have quite a few parts there, are they mainly Buick?

I steered the guy from stoughton your way as i got the pedals and interior out of that 72 lark with 3 in da tree. he is a good guy, and an oval track racer, and can use the trany out of it. No waste to that rusted 72 :beer
