I did a quick search to find the correct color for the trunks splatter paint. I did not find my answer. Black with Gray, Gray with white?

    Thanks for the help!!!

GM # 1051499 is a perfect match to my '71 Flint built trunk paint.

    Internet says........

I found that to say it is Black with Aqua. Does that sound right for a 72 Flint built??????
    Thank you Matt!!!!!!!!

    Troy,

Sorry to say, but, I'm not sure. Try it and see. I tested it on my original trunk and overlayed some original paint and I could hardly see where I sprayed it. I doubt they changed much for '72.

I know the GM aerosol is not even a resemblence to the original in our 72 GS 350 Flint built car.

There are two available from GM. Did you try both?

I have 3 quart cans of GM trunk paint that is black aqua and white around here somewhere. It would need to be put into some kind of shutz gun to be sprayed. It cannot be shaken only stirred. It is original GM trunk paint if i'm not mistaken i'll look for it today. I paid like $52 a quart when I bought it. I don't think it is still available but I could be wrong.

    black aqua and white

Here is an example of spray bomb. Not bad, but specks are to small for me.

That is exactly how mine looks. Aqua! Consider what color the trunk mat is. Gotta match the mat.

Takes at least 2 if not 3 spray bombs for really good coverage. Then you need the better part of 2 bombs of gloss clear.

While your at it redo the jack too. You'll be happier!

Krylon has an aluminum paint with real Al powder in it - makes a great cover for worn jack plating (great on gas tanks too). Mine looks factory fresh.

I will have to take a look too see which one I have. Our 72 GS has black with large aqua specks.
I used the GM aerosol in my 70 Chevelle, and that may be the wrong color for it also. One thing I don't like about it is wherever any water drips and lays on it, the stuff dissolves.

Yes! That's why you MUST spray it with a clearcoat.

The newer stuff has smaller aqua specks. I have an original trunk floor I cut out of a 72 junk car and it has bigger aqua specks than my spray bomb stuff. These are water borne paints and have to be covered with clear. Anyone interested in the PPG/ Ditzler code for this stuff from an original paint sheet it is #DX-1758 This is a 71 sheet and for color it says Turquoise (Dark Blue, Gray Fleck) Contradictory to say the least!
