http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...90192546390&ssPageName=ADME:X:AAQ:MOTORS:1123 This car has the title of 1972 GS Stage-1 but has a vin 4G37K which would have meant the car started life as a GS 350 car. When I sent an email to the seller asking if they were aware this was a GS 350 car the response I got was "Can you read or do you need to go to school?" Nice. I was very shocked that a company that indicates they pride themselves on service would respond in such a manner. The car is in my town and I really need to go down there and see if he tries to sell it as a Stage-1 or will tell me there has been a motor swap. On second thought I don't really want to ruin my Christmas by dealing with someone that rude. Mark
On Dec-19-07 at 11:42:23 PST, seller added the following information: For all you Skylark buffs out there....This is not a real GS455 Stage 1....This is a tribute car....However it really did start in life as a GS350. This is a real GS car! The car has been extremely tastfully made into a STAGE 1 GS455. It is without a doubt gorgeous and receives massive amounts of headturning, gawking, rubbernecking attention. The VIN tells the story. This car is worth more money the way it is than ALL original in my humble opinion
Yeah, another upstanding ebay seller. You have to read the fine print right at the bottom of the listing to see the "disclaimer" that the car isn't a "real" Stage 1. It's like me advertising my car as a 71 GSX and saying right at the bottom of the ad "Not a real GSX, but a real GS455". Nice! :blast: Harvey
How did you find out when he added that statement? I emailed him last night about that time. I honestly did not scroll down past his other E-Bay auction information. If it was there from the time of posting then I missed it. Shame on me. It was an honest mistake on my part. If he added it yesterday after my email then shame on him. I was still surprised at the response. He could have simply stated that it was at the bottom of the page. I guess some people prefer to be confrontational. Mark
In retrospec I probably brought it on myself. My first comment was not as kind as I remember it being. I responsed to his response in not as kind of manner and I have since received a couple more responses which were a lot more extreme than the first. Lesson learned. Steve - found the time stamp now. It is blacked out on the ebay site. Mark
The disclaimer is so far down and away from the rest of the ad, it is very easy to miss it. Typical of someone that is trying to mislead the general public.
I did go to the dealer's website and on his website I cannot find any information on the add that shows this is not a real Stage1 other than the fact the VIN shows it. http://www.speedway-motors.net/detail-1972-buick-gs-455_stage_1-2452592.html One really funny comment he made in one of his responses to me was that looking at my ebay name I must be a wacko about the GSX and that I should go find a GSX. Got that one covered. Mark
Look at the pedal pads, might be just a bit more milage on that car. 47K? Too much wear on the brake pad. Jim
Dishonest, smarty pants, and kinda dumb, EBAY is full of folks like this. :Smarty: Bless his heart, this poor fella needs to be educated...apparently mamma didn’t do it. The lesson is, "When you get mouthy your likely to get spanked".
In my opinion (an important legal disclaimer all by itself) this ebay add is intended to defraud a potential buyer. And yet it did only sell for around $3000 over low retail book value of a real Stage 1 according to the NADA guide. So, perhaps not much harm done. I suspect the seller lost money on the car.
