    Hi,
I have a '72 GS455 4 speed awaiting restoration. I have been collecting parts and pieces for awhile. I sent the VIN to the Sloan Museum and they decoded it for me. In the "wheel section" of the "Wholesale Car Order" form it lists "V1", deluxe wheel covers. I thought that meant the fullsize hubcaps I got w/ the car. Looking over the form again I see "V4" is super deluxe wheel covers. Does "deluxe wheel covers" mean the dog dish style caps or the fullsize ones I have? (Also specified was "F2", oversize whitewall tires H78-14 if that helps or matters.) Other paperwork I got from Sloan says the car was ordered and sold through "Feese-George Chevrolet" in Sullivan, Mo. Is that unusual? For a Buick to be sold through a Chevy dealer? I couldn't find the dealer/ zone codes listed on the GSX registry site.
    Thanks in advance,
    Ed

    Ed,
Going by my 72 Dealer trim book the "Deluxe Wheel covers" are the full size hubcap the reads Buick motor division circling the center of the cap.

The "Super Deluxe Wheel Covers" are the ones that have the tiny spokes all over the wheelcap. The spokes are really close together.

The popular dogdish hubcaps are called just "Hub Cap".

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks Dustin,
I got to thinking after I reread the order form if what I had (the hubcaps you described) is what I was supposed to have. Apparently it was a very stripped down GS (455, 4 speed and thats about it). That answers that. Still curious in regards to how unusual it was to order a Buick through a Chevy dealer. I have xerox copies of the MSO to Feese George Chevrolet (and several title transfers thereafter).
    Thanks again,
    Ed

    Ed -

There were many dealerships that sold multiple GM makes. Check out This List, compiled by Mark Macoubrie for us Buick enthusiasts.

it is common to order say a buick thru a chev dealer, if the chev dealer is authorized to sell buicks.
here is my story, from experience- my dad ordered a new 1963 impala sport coupe from the local pontiac dealer but he hooked up with chev dealer 40 miles away to place the order. my dad went this route because he was at odds with the local chev dealer, 10 miles away.
as a result, the local chev dealer ended up receiving a small commission on the sale because the impala was ordered out of district by the pontiac dealer.
    go figure.

    Thanks all!

Thanks to everyone who responded and helped clear up my "mystery". I like the maroon GS! At the GS NAts a few years back I saw a blue '71 GS w/ same wheelcovers. So I guess they are out there. I tried looking up Feese George on Google w/ no results. They must've went out of business some time ago. I knew there are/ were dealers who sell multiple makes but near as I could tell, F-G was a Chevy only dealer. I didn't know they could still sell other makes.
    Thanks again,
    Ed
