http://southjersey.craigslist.org/cto/1877038415.html Seems like a solid car and a good deal. If someone takes a look please report back and tell us how it is.
It might be a good deal, but I would have a hard time buying a car with no paint for 6k. Without a coat of color, its going to be a hard sell.
First, no body shop will paint over someone elses body work. And have you ever seen a $3k paint job? I have. Most look alot better before the paint job
By the pics and description, you are doing a lot of prep work before you even think about paint. Painting is the easy part.....it's the prep work that matters...I guess it all depends if you can do it yourself or pay and what kind of job you're looking for:idea2: Either way,I've seen a lot worse for more $ and a few better for less. But not a terrible price on this one..........
I did all the bodywork and finishing on my old car and the fella down the street sprayed the car in his garage over the weekend, we color sanded it and buffed it out and it was the best $450* I'd ever spent. $250 for the Dupont paint and $200** for him to spray it. *(Beer not included.) **(Beer not included.) -Phil
I emailed him about the VIN like 5 days ago but no answer. It's probably a Skylark with GS symbols and a 2bbl engine. Phil, the beer must have cost you at least $1500 for that price
I was referring to a body shop, not a friend with a spray gun. Body shops have a reputation to uphold. Imagine if a reputable body shop sprayed over whatever is under that primer (assuming that whatever primer is on there doesnt react immediately with his paint system). And six months later, the body work starts lifting or the paint starts to peel. Who's fault is it? And what will you tell people when they ask? Body shops want to prevent people slamming their work because of someone elses mistake. Thats why a good body shop will require a car to be stripped to bare metal or they wont paint it. You can still go to Earl Sheib and get him to paint a car for 199.00. Is that a good paint job?
Looks like a nice interior though... Love the white If I ever do seats/door panels I'll be going white.
