Bought a NOS 72 grill back in December. UPS threw the box around and broke off two studs. I left it on my front porch for them to confirm the damage. They of course rejected the claim even though they accepted the insurance. I battled with them for about 3 months. They took the grill and shipped it back to Chicago where it originated. During this shipment, they did not rewrap the grill and sent it in the same box, which they said was inadequate. Needless to say when I called and they charged me another $20 to ship it back it arrived completely smashed. So I called my rep up who handles my company account. We do about $1M in business with them a year. Told him that he was going to pay for the grill either through the right channels or he would lose much more as I move my account to DHL or FED EX. I am finally getting a check from them.

So, does anyone have a show quality 1972 GS grill they want to part with? I have a really nice one on my car, but during the restoration the top of the grill got pushed on and there is a small crack. Repairable, but I want this car to be really right.

    Thanks,
    Mike Scally

    GStage1 Always looking for parts!

Hope you learned your lesson with UPS...those are a bunch of gorillas in brown suits that live to destroy boxes. I no longer deal with them.....switched my account to FedEx and never had a problem.....sent over 200 packages in the last year!

Well, I do use them in our business and they do work well. This is the first problem, it just happened to be costly!

Thanks for the advice on Fed Ex. The next grill will probably go that route.

The best way to send frigle items is though USPS. I have never had anything broken or lost. It is the only way I will send a grill.

    Hi Mike,
I may have an extra NOS grille here for sale. I've sold off alot of parts and can't remember for sure if there is one of those still laying here.

You may be correct there. They are the only service that has not destroyed a grill for me.

I have two 1971 skylarks, 2 1972 skylark/GS, and an 1972 custom grill in the attic of my garage that I have but back together.

If I get another "extra" car part, I will have to find a new place to store all of them if you know what I mean. :ball:

My car money is going towards the new 464 I am putting in the car this week...

    Thanks Tim,

Heading out to Ireland for some golf for 12 days. Will be back Sept 13th. I am interested so if you can hold on till then??

I might make enough money on the trip to pay for it??? :)

    Hey Mike,
I'm going to have a hard time feeling sorry for you having to travel all the way to Ireland to play golf  .
No hurry on my end, but just make lots of money over there so you can pay me big bucks for the grille  .
In the meantime I will try to dig out what I have left for grilles so I know if there is actually an extra one.

    Mike,
According to my list I should have one extra, but I didn't get a chance to dig them out to make sure.
I haven't really kept up lately on values of GS parts, so I don't know what I would need out of it.
