I have not seen a GM A body two door of any sort in the yards for a long time, but perhaps? you might be able to source some full shells from Arizona. (Desert Valley, Happy Valley, azchevs, etc.) That would save you a whole bunch of labor and time, imho.
i have an NOS driver side skin that was installed then removed. it wasnt welded just the seams were pinched. i can get you pics if you are interested. i have to get $250+shipping.
