what is the compression ratio of a 1972 GS 350? my chilton's only goes to 1971 and that motor is 10.25:1

71 and newer is listed at 8.5. Actual is maybe 7.5.

7.67 from most 72 engines I have measured. Slim chance but some 71 engines had steel shim head gaskets that make it almost 8 to 1. There are no 71 10.25 motors I am aware of

My 71 originally had the .020 steel shim type head gaskets from factory, no sealant was used on them in 71, installed dry, they held up perfectly well to 110,000 miles.

I like them and I still use them today!:TU:

weird, my Chilton's book goes to 71' and that lists 10.25:1 compression for the 350, ( the hottest one) there are 3-350 listings (one) 2brl 350 and (two) 4brl 350's

That is a mistake. That was the case in 1970, not 1971.
