As stated above, need a NOS or PRETTY GOOD quality used door handle (outside one!) for the 72 GS. I guess the re-pops aren't up to par. Any help or leads appreciated! Instant payment! Bill in TR

    Bill,
the one you need is GM 9717593 LH, the GM 5719143 is for Camaro and do not fit correctly. Many people are selling them as 70-72 skylark and chevelle and they are not..... They also have a different inside grab bar (skinny).

Thanks Nelson... PM sent! My old man worked for Electromotive Division of G.M. (locomotive/marine engines) and always swore by GM mainly because of their "standardization" concept on things. Starting my own motive career in about 1970 I learned the same lesson; primarily like a GM carb was a GM carb etc. So now, 40 some years later we all learn about the slight nuances between the models.

Heres a high end repop with matching numbers and "Not Compatible" http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-1966-67...Parts_Accessories&hash=item5b0c2b74dd&vxp=mtr

Im not one that worries about "award winning" with the stuff like the factory wheel lug nuts 1234567-A were superseded by 1234567-B after the midnight shift changeover in March 12 of 1971 at the Flint plant by any stretch of the imagination, but a door handle?? Live and learn I guess. Used to go out to the junkyards and get this stuff that at a year or two old was still "show quality"... Not no mo'.

How about the old man with his "new" Buick, around Nov. '41 after a successful hunt in Trout Lake Mich. That made him about 20 years old and a successful bachelor with a nice new car. If anyone can ID the year/model Id appreciate it. That generation for me was always hard to ID. Bill in TR

AH-HA... Thanks fellas, I think we are on to something good here... CABRON! Estamos un FIASCO grande!!

Looking at the Summit stuff, Laz's one (OPG)

    http://www.summitracing.com/parts/opg-pz57072/overview/year/1972/make/buick/model/skylark

seems like a more descript fitment where as the other from Summit (Trim Parts) seems a bit more generic.

Seems like the cheaper one is the way to go, so Wheelz; save a trip to the barn, and thanks anyways! You are hereby cursed to meet me face to face next time the AIR thaws out enough to support aircraft LOL Bill in 30 below TR... BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Have a good supply of used 70 - 72 GM (mostly Chevelle). Believe that they might? be the same, as the 70 - 72 Skylark and Chevelle (and Monte Carlo) shared side door glass, door internals, and possibly entire inner door shell as well.
