1972 Bumper Mounting ?

    Ok, dumb question time. The rear bumpers on the 72 GS cars have side support brackets at each end. What is the proper placement on the bumper bracket side, in back of the bracket toward the car or sandwiched between the main bracket and bumper? I have seen them both ways but not sure which is correct. Thanks, Chris :TU:

    Chris,
    I posted the same question on George N.'s site not long ago. Concensus was the main bracket goes against the bumper & the side brace on top of the main bracket.
    I've seen them both ways too. Mine is a '71 but brackets are common '71 & '72.

    this is from a `72 it is a safe bet that this bumper has never been off the car
