Hi guys I'm restoring a 1972 Buick stage one convertible for speed and I want to make sure that I get it right the front of the hood has a plastic lip. Is that lip supposed to be body color??
The hood molding is pot metal and the vertical part is to be body color the chrome when you look at it comes down to meet the head light door chrome
Headlight bezel is also body color around the openings, with an argent color around the lights, with a strip of chrome separating the two, then the edge that meets up to the hood moulding is also chrome. You MUST sand any chrome to be painted with 180,or 220 grit then mist a LIGHT coat of Bulldog adhesion promoter then spray with an epoxy primer then paint , if you dont it will flake off immediately
To be honest ive seen both but the ones that were on a 21k mi car I had years ago were argent and the ones on my 72 Stage one owner car are Argent, but I got a pile of Black ones too but they look like spraybomb touchups , wonder if Skylark/GS/Custom were different colors?
I've never seen flat black that were not repaints. Always dark argent silver, much like bare cast iron.
72 GS grills are 3 colors. Silver of course. The horizontal bars are dark argent and the honeycomb on the ends are flat black. Re read the question. Skylark head light doors are the same PN as GS.
