1972 Buick Skylark Custom, I purchased this car about 6 months ago from the original owners estate, the woman ordered this car brand new in 1971 from Buick and drove it till she passed at 94 years of age. It was "always" a garaged vehicle in Seminole Florida. I have all of the paperwork. From the paperwork she filled out to order the car, the "original" window sticker ($4,021.00 brand new) insurance forms, oil changes, everything you could possibly save. I planned on keeping this car but now a financial situation has arose where I have to sell. I added dual exhaust with fake flowmasters and the tires and rims (The original tires, rims & hubcaps will be available for a reduced price of $800.00 on the car if so inclined) tuned it up, replaced needed front end components, new battery, it has the original Buick 350 V8 motor, 96,000 miles, Factory Tinted Glass, Factory AM/FM, Tilt, Air Conditioning, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Bucket Seats with a console, I have replaced some of the plastic interior pieces due to dry rot in the florida heat, Dash is perfect, The top was special ordered from the factory painted white as she didn't like vinyl roofs her son told me. Bumpers are perfect, needs carpet, The vehicle was repainted once in the early 90's I believe? (I have all of the paperwork for that) by a shop in Seminole Florida as well. Absolutely no rust. This car is in excellent shape for a vehicle that has never been restored. I have the manufactures statement of origin paperwork, ziebart ($36.40 on 10-22-71) Refund check stub from Buick for $239.66 on 01-07-72, receipt for paying cash for the car, receipt for door guards $4.72 & Buick mats $8.25 from Krajenke Buick in Detroit? I guess what I am trying to say all sorts of paperwork since new. I hope I am not out of line on the price but it is honestly about what I have into it now and I need the money! Its a tough decision when you have decide between cars or your home. $9,750.00 with tires & rims $8,950.00 with factory tires, rims and hubcaps Cash talks Tom
Thanks for the comments, I just hope to find someone who will appreciate the car as it is a very nice original car. If the rain stops this weekend I plan on getting pictures of the underside, engine area and trunk per the requests I have received so far. I also would like to add that it has new brakes all around. Tom
What a nice and cool car! I don't think that you are out of line on the price. I would rather spend the money on that car than buy what that money would buy me in a newer car and I would just drive the tires off of it!
Hi Tom! HOW IN THE WORLD DID YOU BUY this car right out from under ME???? I have some history and info on this one! I've been chasing it for many years and even did some work on it. The car disappeared a few years ago and I havent seen it around...talk to me!!! Email me! Wheelz, Tampa Bay ..(actually SEMINOLE!)
What exactly is that color? My 72 was green, although I think a darker green and I like that color. I like that color. Hard to do much of a color change without a ton of work and money when you start with green! I might even want to put the vinyl top back on looking at that car!
Well did Wheelz buy the car of his dreams ......? Small World , what happens in Flordia stays in Flordia !!
Wheelz, yes I was told she passed in 2004 and the car was garaged since then until he decided to sell? I actually found this car on craigslist! Her son (Who was 72 at the time I believe) who sold me the car had no idea what craigslist was but his secretary did and she posted it and I saw the ad and purchased it from there. I would be interested in the history, if you know this car you know it is very clean and a nice car. I knew you lived in Seminole and was actually surprised you didn't get it! Thanks, Tom
Sorry, I forgot to metion it is #F Sea Mist Green Bottom with a #C Artic White top according to the paperwork from the Detroit Auto Brokers on August 21st 1971 (I am telling you there is a ton of paperwork). It is "NOT" I repeat "NOT" a vinyl roof, it is a painted white roof. Thanks, Tom (I just don't want anyone confused):Smarty:
This is a very nice car. It would take a significant amount of $$$ to put an avg. Skylark in this shape and even then, it wouldn't be this original.
That is a sharp looking car. It seems to be right in line with what I paid for my '72 in June. The buyer will really have something to enjoy, bucket seats and floor shifter no less!
Thanks for the comments everyone, I really think if someone would come see it they would buy it. I got it out of storage and took pictures of what people were asking me for. The trunk had some surface rust I was not expecting under the trunk floor cover. I do not have a lift so its tough to get some clean pictures underneath but it is solid. Tom
Some more pics... If anyone would like to see others please let me know and I will take more. I also was asked about the A/C, it was converted and it does blow cold but not freezing, it works as it should tho, when I say it isn't freezing cold I used it in July in Florida so for 90% of the country it would be freezing cold!. Tom
Tom, The pictures look nice. Somebody's gonna end up with a nice solid skylark complete with buckets, tilt, and A/C!! I've always like the interiors on 72's. White is nice when the sun's out and it's 90 Degrees! This would make a great cruiser as is or nice foundation for any use. This is exactly what I was looking for a couple years ago when I started my Stock Appearing Drag car. Good luck with the sale!
Thanks for the kind words Todd:beer , I am actually from Wisconsin originally and my sister just this past week bought not too far from you in Ogema WI.(Now I am hoping I have a place to keep a snowmobile! I still have had no one come see the car unfortunately? I am open to offers if anyone is interested? Tom
I think you are just going to have to be a little patient. It's a very nice car for the money, just not the best time of year to sell it. It's winter, and just before Christmas. It will sell and you should be able to get your money out of it.
