I am looking for a good OEM fan shroud, preferrably one that is minty. I don't want any fiberglass shrouds. Pictures please. Postage to 98837.
71-72 is not repoduced. 71 and 72 are pretty much the same the 70 is different. I thought someone here had one for sale.
This is the one I'm looking at: http://www.taperformance.com/proddetail.asp?prod=TA%5F2040D I don't know if it's an exact reproduction of the '72 OEM piece, but it's made out of plastic (despite what the outdated description says) and looks like it should work. Just thought I'd reach out for a nice OEM first.
I figured as much. I don't think I'm going to find a nice '72 OEM for the same price either. Didn't hurt to ask, though.

I'm in the same boat. I just found out The Parts Place INC. has repo fan shrouds for 70, 71, and 72 http://www.thepartsplaceinc.com/ocatalog/part.asp?VID=0&YearList=0&SearchPart=CS1398S#top
You can't use either reproduction on a 72 455 if they were made like the 70 455 fan shrouds. The fans are different diameters, the radiator insulators are offset differently, the water pumps are different lengths, and the pulley may also be different. You will have to use everything from a 70, or everything from a 71-72, unless you want potential alignment issues which can cause overheating if the fan is not in the right position in the shroud. I think I have a spare 72 455 shroud in my storage building, but it has a crack or piece missing from what I remember. If Donny doesn't have one I can go look if you are still interested in one that is not "minty".
I ended up getting the ABS fan shroud from TA Performance (2040D) for my '72 Skylark. I'm going to use Flex Fan's 5719 fan and 5555 fan clutch and a long nose water pump and the '72 A/C pulleys that all came on the Electra motor. I've been told this should work, even though the fan may be slightly inside the center line of the fan shroud opening. I'll report back next month on whether or not it does. As for a repro '72 455 GS fan shroud, nobody makes one that I could find and used ones are either over $300 or broken.
Thanks, Doug. Where were you in March? Since this thread was started by me, I'll pass on any more offers now that I have a shroud and let anyone else get in line for any deals that come along here. Thanks again.
