My 1972 GS 455 came with original block, BUT 71 heads ,intake and carb. Now I have tracked down the right intake and carb , and a set of both 72 and 73 heads. There are things that look like sending units mounted on them , but I can't figure out what these are for. Any ideas?:Do No: Nothing in the chassis service manual. The 71 heads didn't have them.Any help appreciated, Kevin.

Heat sensors from full size cars. Not used on Skylark models.

They monitored the temp of the heads.
If you overheat, first the Hot light will come on, and if you ignore that long enough a Stop Engine light comes on. If I recall the light flashes.

Thanks guys. I know the heads aren't right, but at least the intake lines up with them. That wasn't the case with the other setup. Now I need to find a set of correct dated heads and get them rebuilt in the future. Looks like it back over to the Parts Wanted.:Comp: :TU:
