Wheelz, Check this V8Buick article out: http://www.v8buick.com/archive/index.php/t-262550.html. Buick Marketing built groups of Stage 1 Convertibles in '71 (Gold) and in '72 (Orange) which were all equipped the same in each year. Not all have been accounted for, but I believe all '71's were identically equipped. You might research this car and the '71 Zone cars a little more to be certain. Per the article above regarding the '71 Buick Zone promotional cars: The 71's were all optioned the same with: Stage 1 TH 400 3.42 posi Power disc brakes Power Steering AM radio with rear speaker N25 exhaust G60 15's with chrome 15x7 rally wheels F41 rally ride suspension Air conditioning Custom front shoulder seat belts Speed alert Tinted glass Front and rear bumper guards Sport mirrors Power bench seat Power windows Power locks Cruise control Tilt steering Convenience group lighting Tach and gauges Rally steering wheel Fold down armrest bench seat
Dennis, I've been busy with all sorts of stuff but I would be happy to chime in if necessary on this car. Mine is WAY different:laugh:
XXXXX 100563 ... AND when Lee had his car at the GS Nats, (I forget which year? maybe 98?) I arranged with the assistance of Richard and Bennett, a scheduled challenge race twixt Bobs car and Lees car... Lee won that race by a few inches but afterwards, we compared VIN#s and they were only 2 or 3 numbers apart... My memory isnt what it used to be but I also remember at one time, Lee was in Florida for an Air show? and stopped by. Again he verified these two were very close in build dates. Wheelz, Tampa Bay
Do you have any documentation to prove it's a Stage 1? The resident expert on Zone cars will probably chime in soon, but I was told that all the Zone cars were built on the same day in August of '70.
i have some of the documents for mine. And have a paper trail that goes back to the original owner. And I do know the built date as well.
Wheelz, Plwase do not put me in line, but I do have a couple of questions. Does the engine block have a stamping? If so is it correct for a 71 Stage 1? Does the carb and dist. have correct numbers? I think the car has been tastfully done, making it a great car to have fun in. Thanks, Allen
