I am putting together a 71 Skylark with a/c and am having an alignment problem with the top metal bracket that connects to the top of the compressor and the intake manifold. The hole on the intake will not line up properly with the hole on the bracket. I suspect the bracket that is used to adjust the alternator and also connects to the top metal bracket of the compressor is the wrong length. What would be the correct length of the alt. adjusting bracket and or part # of it?

The engine I assume is a 430 from your signature? I bet your using the lower aluminum bracket from the Riv. I think your mixing and matching the brackets. They're all different and they dont interchange. The Riv aluminum bracket locates the A/C compressor and aternator higher than the A body bracket.
