I have a 1971 GS, with factory drum brakes all the way around. The brake booster needs to be replaced.

    Three questions:
    1. Is the all-drums brake booster different than the disc/drum brake booster? I do know the master cylinder is different.

    2. How many years of Buick brake booster will fit my car and still be totally correct in operation and appearance?

    3. Finally, I see a totally new, reproduction booster (cad plated and all) for 1971 runs about $95 to $100 from several eBay vendors. I was shocked at this low price. The appearance looks exactly like the original booster currently in my car. Any comments on going with this repro 11" booster vs. sending my original booster in for rebuilding and replating?

    Thanks for any help, John

    Hi John,

Looks as though your question have a lot of lookers but no response so I'll respond with what little I know.

Question 1. Power brake booster for 71-72 is the same for drum and disc.

Question 2. All 70-72 boosters should be the same.

Question 3. Brake boosters are being reproduced with and without the Delco stamp. Without stamp is around $100. With stamp about $150.

Unless your original is totally pit free, I would opt for the repro.

Hope that helps. If my comments are wrong, I'm sure someone will set me straight.

    Larry

Try Inline Tube for either the Delco orginal or the repop.
    Delco 11" w/ stamp $169
    11" w/out stamp $139

Great outfit without the risk of dealing on eBay

If you are concerned with original looks stay awy from repops. I can pick them right out but I am picky. The trangular recesses in the repros are cut too sharp where originals are smoother. Put two together and see waht I mean. Nothing repro is ever exact unfortunately.:( :(
