    Guys,

Does anybody have close up pics of a correctly painted or unrestored 71 GS grille? I searched the whole forum and internet but you find so many different paint variants. Some very dark to black other only the squares painted dark and so on...and the original buick ad pics (the bittersweet one on the shore) is only found in bad quality.
As you can see in the pic below mine is painted all silver wich looks incorrect. I need to repair it anyway (two broken tips) so I want to paint it the right way.

The scoop grilles in the hood are painted the same silver. Wich I think is incorrect as well. Any pics of correct ones?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Benny

Not fun at all painting a 71 grill. Hours of labor taping involved.

Started to mask the grille...it's a pain...

What color do the hood inserts have? black with silver or charcoal with silver?

Black with silver. Originals were just painted. I clear coated mine to help with fading.

Do you have a close up picture?

I am still unsure if I should clear coat the grille as well. Might help when removing bugs and dirt.

The best I can do is a few 35mm copies of some pics of my 71 455 taken in 1973. Wish they were better... ws
