O.K. Gang....thanks to the replies from the forum members I was able to get the correct, stock Moog coil springs for my '71 GS 350. Now, I'm ready to do the install, and have two quick questions.

First, the new front coil springs each have a dab of white paint on one end. Does the white paint end belong on the top or bottom, once installed? Second, the new stock rear springs appear to have identical on both ends, and have no white paint dabs. Am I missing something in my observation that the top and bottom ends of the rear springs are identical (and can be installed with either end up or down)? Thanks in advance for any help. John

I did this two years ago and here's what I remember. Usually, the front springs have a mostly flat side where the coils are mashed down and will sit flat on the ground and a side that isn't. The side that is flattened usually goes up inside the frame and the lower control arm has a notch where the coil end goes for alignment. Not sure about the white paint.

As for the rears, The set I installed were tighter wound on one end than the other. I put the tighter coils down. At least the rear is easier to change if you get it wrong.
