Hi. I want to get the proper "Keep Your GM All GM" air cleaner housing decal for my 1971 GS350. I am looking in the Original Parts Group catalog, and they don't show a specific listing for 1971 GS....instead they show a listing of this decal for 1971 350 4-barrel, AND a different decal number for 1971 350 4-barrel HD (which I'm assuming means "Heavy Duty". Does anyone know which decal is right for my GS350 air cleaner. It is interesting that the OPG catalog shows a decal listing for 1970 GS350 and a 1972 GS350....but no specific listing for a 1971 GS350. By the way, Year One had nothing listed for the 1971 "Keep Your GM All GM" decal.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, John in Wisconsin

Hey John, you might check on Postons website.Postonbuick.com I think. They usually give a good description of what years used what and they also have a toll free number so you can talk to the folks there. They've always been very helpful with any questions I've ever had.

Then go down to the 71 listings, they show what might be correct for your car, no pic of it though.

    John,

The air cleaner decal should say GS350.

He's asking about the "Keep your GM car all GM" decal, not the red decal that goes on top of the air cleaner.

BTW, the correct decal for the top of the air cleaner in '71 is not the "GS 350" decal, it should be "350-4". There have been several posts covering this recently.

    Thank you, Darren

Yes, Darren. The 1971 GS decal "Keep Your GM Car All GM" is the one I wanted to know about. Nobody has answered that question yet. It is the rectangular decal or sticker with a white background that goes on the side of the air cleaner. There are several different ones for each model year, depending on the engine used. The decal usually specifies the AC air filter element to use.

So, how about it 1971 GS350 owners, what is supposed to be printed on the correct decal for my car? Thanks again for everyone's effort. John in Wisconsin

I wish I had more info about that decal, as I am in the same situation as you. I have purchased several of them from different places but don't know which is correct for a '71. I do know that some of the differences are the color of the small print ( some red, some blue), the letter code on one end of the decal, and the part number that appears on the decal. Perhaps Duane will chime in here. :TU:

It looks like the the correct air cleaner decal is "350-4" and if so I need to get one that looks original (embossed) as I have restored my 71 GS 350 and need to get the correct one. I will also need the correct "keep your GM car all GM". The exact location of where that decal is located is needed too.

    Yeah it should...

But ONLY if your car is a 68 or 69. All original 70-72 350 gs decals I've seen say 350-4, and they are embossed. :Brow: I think I still have one tucked away...

I don't know about the correct keep your GM.... for 71. I think it may be the same as 70. I know mine was placed on the pass side of the air cleaner, not on the top. In other words, one would read the lable from standing on the pass side of the car, not viewed from above.:Smarty:

So Dan are you willing to part with the original 350-4 decal? :Brow:

    John,
The "Keep Your GM Car All GM" decals have different letter codes for the various applications. I will check tonight for the correct letter codes for a 1971 GS 350 car and post it here.

    Air Cleaner Decal Letter Codes

Thank you tons, Duane! I have called Osbourne's and they were nice enough to actually bring four possible (1970 and 1971) "Keep Your GM Car All GM" air cleaner decals to the phone. I have made a note of the GM letter code that is one each of these Osbourne decals. So, once you post the 1971 GS350 letter code that should be on the decal, I will be able to post the Osbourne order number of that decal for the rest of the guys. Teamwork!

Osbourne does not have any 1971 "Keep Your GM Car All GM" air cleaner decals listed. They show 1970 and then go to 1972. However, the Osbourne person thought we would find that there was a carryover from the 1970 decal to 1971. We shall see. John in Wisconsin

    John,
The info from the 71 assembly manual says "BC" (part # 6485517) for 71 GS 350 & 455 with a standard filter.

    Duane,

What did you mean by a "standard filter"?

You know, I knew someone was going to ask that.

If you look in the Assembly Manuals, they list both a regular and heavy duty "air cleaner". The buildsheets also list the two types.

What they are talking about is the filter element, the air cleaners were the same.

PS. The first letter code on these decals is the vehicle Make, that is
    P_ is a Pontiac
    C_ is a Chevy
    B_ is a Buick
    O_ is an Olds

So if you have anything but a "B_" on your Buick it is wrong.

    Great Help, Duane!

Thanks for your legwork on this question, Duane. Using your "BC" code, the correct "Keep Your GM Car All GM" decal for the side of the air cleaner on a 1971 GS350 and GS455 is Osbourne Reproductions part #DB0304. That decal corresponds exactly to the Buick part number you also provided.

Again, I appreciate your help and your time on this. Best, John in Wisconsin
