Boy, this is a tough one. I am considering selling my 1971 Buick Skylark/GSX tribute car - don't worry, I am not giving up on Buicks - I have my eye on a real nice Buick convertible. Anyway, I am listing my car here because I would want it to go to a Buick fan like myself.

    1971 Buick Skylark/GSX tribute car
    Burnished Cinnamon with Sandalwood interior

GSX striping done in gloss black paint with sandalwood pinstriping to match the interior.

The car was repainted 10 years ago when I bought it - a few small chips and under the passenger side fender by the door is a small area of bubbles in the paint (under the trim). Everything else looks great - definitely a great cruiser and local show car (plenty of trophies to attest to that) but not a concours car.

350 4bbl with ram air cleaner & rare 1971 only electric solenoid (the car has 46,000 original miles on it - I bought it 11 years ago when it had 39,000 original miles from the original owner).

Flowmaster H-pipe 2 1/2 inch dual exhaust with 40 series mufflers going through a converted N25 bumper (the bumper was rechromed last year)

Real steel GS hood with hood tach - works great.

bucket seats (new foam and seat covers from Legendary installed last year) with shorty console.

air conditioning - needs a charge as it is blowing warm air now (I had the aftermarket cans of AC put in last time and it blew cold until it ran out)

    Rare sandalwood sport steering wheel.

    Sandalwood deluxe seatbelts.

    New carpet and door sills.

Rallye gauges, speedometer with speed alert (buzzer was not hooked up on installation), and 24hr clock. Everything works fine.

Aftermarket Autometer oil & temp gauges installed in a dual pod on the a-pillar arm.

    Underdash tissue dispenser.

AM/FM stock radio + AM/FM Alpine CD player hidden inside an underdash Buick 8-track player with flip open face. Pioneer Kickpanel speakers and two rear Pioneer 6x9 speakers installed in the trunk under the new deluxe package tray with speaker holes.

Map light and convenience lighting package - all work.

Custom sized Buick super sport wheels painted Burnished Cinnamon to match the exterior of the car. 15x7 in the front with 245x60x15 tires and 15x8 in the rear with 275x60x15 tires. Also included are two extra original Buick super sport wheels that you can have made into spares. Plus the original spare tire is still in the trunk.

Power drum brakes all around + a front disc brake set up removed from a 1971 Buick GS.

    Dual sport mirrors.

    Front and rear spoilers.

Wheelwell trim and body side molding.

Power steering (non power doors and windows)

    Rear defogger - works great.

Lots of books and paperwork - three original build sheets - one is full from the top of the gas tank, two are thirds from under the front and back seat (car was built in Framingham). Original dealer folder with protecto-plate and some original paperwork. 1971 dealer trim album and 1971 mini facts books. 1971 color ship guide.

The car runs and drives excellent. I would eventually change the oil pan and tranny pan seals as they developed a small drip when the car sits which it does unfortunately as I don't have the time to drive it alot. Also the water pump just recently started to drip a few drops of antifreeze out of the weephole.

I'm torn over selling the car as I had it for 11 years and it was the first thing I bought when I started my teaching career. But I've always dreamed of owning a convertible so I'm going to pursure that. I have a lot of time and money in my car and will only sell it to someone who will take care of it which is why I am trying here first. I will take new pics of my car hopefully tomorrow and will post them here (if you do a search I'm sure you can find some pics of my car scattered throughout the board.) I'll gladly email pics tonight to people interested - they would be a larger scan as well. I'm asking $13,500 for my Buick.

P.S. If you have a 1968-72 Buick Skylark convertible and would like to trade or partial trade plus cash - let me know!

WOW,I can't believe it Chris. I understand though, but yes it must be tough. I've dwelled about selling mine also. Good Luck with the sale.

By the way,I guess I won't be getting that rear, huh? Unless you put the posi rear in and forgot or maybe still have the other rear?

    Chris,
There comes a time when everyone is ready to sell.
Very nice car. Hope you find the right ragtop.
I plan on keeping mine for a long, long time. I'd sell it in a heartbeat should I ever strike a deal on a local '71 Stage 1 ragtop. Seen it a couple times, all there but the engine.

    Good luck with the sale.

    >>Hi Tom,

Very observant of you! I still have the rebuilt 3.23 posi rear - if someone meets my asking price I'll throw the posi rear in. Otherwise, the posi rear will be going into whatever convertible I get and I will still offer you the rear that gets pulled (I'm eyeing a '72 so it will still have the 8.5 rear)

    >>Thanks Steve. Please keep me in mind for the black rear shoulder belts when you sell them - I still might need them for whatever Buick I find.

A nice car at a very fair price.
Good luck with the convertible. It's always cool to cruise with the top down.

Chris, what a beautiful car and what a lot of work you've done on it, it's beautiful! I thought I had mine starting to look good and now I realize I have a long ways to go yet! Your car is worth every penny (and more) that you're asking, I am sure you'll get it without too much work. All the best :TU: And thanks for all the pics!

    >>Thank you Ian! I just fielded two calls from board members who are possibly interested in my Buick. As I mentioned, I would prefer to sell to a board member so I'm holding off on putting the car on ebay.

When I looked over the pics of my car again I couldn't believe all the work that I did to it. But I really want a Skylark convertible so something had to go. When I eventually get my convertible I know that I'll probably be adding a lot of the same features that I did on my '71 - hopefully it will be easier the second time around!

What's this I hear about a second call? Do I need to send my dog up there to pee on the tire or something?

It was a pleasure talking to you Chris. Looking forward to making this deal work.
