It is narrowed down to a 1971 Riviera in very good condition. Generally like this one http://www.americanbestcars.de/auto/oldtimer-buick-riviera-1971/ but preferrably with darker paint.

    Wishlist:
    - GS package is rare... would be amazing, but not necessary
    - Vinyl roof or not is still open => both is fine
    - Floor shifter
    - No parking lights
    - Preferrably not-too bright (i.e. not white or pure silver) paint
    - Bucket seats
    - Interior not black

So this is the wishlist, the reality is different. So please drop me a note if you have something to sell that may fit - or if you have accidently found an offering.

    Many thanks in advance!

This is including all the hassle to bring it to Germany and get the title, etc.

Budget is not fixed but if a car is worth it, this range is o.k.

    Is this budget realistic?

When looking at auctions it seems to me that the prices are higher than usual - is this observation correct? If yes, is this because mainly owners of very pricey cars sell it on auctions or because the auctions attract more bidders than classifieds?

Oooops, yes, sorry. I prefer it like this light.jpg

But this is wishlist, I would not reject the Riv due to additional plastic in the front fender :)

I am really interested in the 1971 and currently checking my schedule for the next weekends.

Would you really join for checking it? This would be absolutely fantasticamazinggorgeousnoideawhattosay!

As the mentioned Riviera is still for sale (seems like the price is not matching the ccondition of the car) I have the opportunity to have a look at it next Saturday!

So the car will then have its engine started for the first time since several months, maybe a year or more.

What should I check when having a first look at the car? What are typical damages of a Riviera not moved for ages and how can I recignize it?

Which one are you looking at in that list?

The listing on mobile has disappeared, sorry, here it is directly from the merchant's site:

The car is available, no license plate but customs are paid. So I would have to bring it to Germany with a trailer, then do some remaining paperwork here.

Is this the normal or the better door-interior?

The vendor claims that the car has no accident - what do you think?

    Has the car been painted?

The car itself looks nice. The interior seat pattern I havent seen before but looks really nice. Hard to tell if its been in any accident or not. I'm also looking at a 71 but this is in nice condition compared to my price range. I didnt relizse these would sell for that kind of price.

    Good luck with your search.

I dont know if you looked at craigslist but there are a few nice ones I found but cheaper than this price but out of my budget. I seen one for $13000 (but its white and restored) and another one in light metalic blue for $9000. i can forward a pic but i dont know anything about how your would get it to germany. But might be worth finding out as its a lot cheaper than 19,000 euro.

The car has almost no options except floor shifter and bucket seats. The car is completely original, all paint is from 1971. Wherever you look, the car looks like driven 37k miles but only on dry days and always garaged. Nothing is new on the exterior, which is a mixed thing considering e.g. the usage of manual windows scratches on the standard door plastic.

looks nice. the one i purchased needs a lot of work. its a 71 with options but has seen better days. its running but needs paint and new front seat covers. and some rust repaair / MIG welding around rear wheel arches etc. So i will be learning to MIG weld to get it looking perfect. Ive also discovered other things like it needs an alternator and the power steering pump has a leak. Easy fixes and I didnt expect it to be perfect but engine runs strong.
