Need to replace my timing cover as she is leaking antifreeze thru a crack or pin hole. Has anyone used this cover from Summit? Seems like a good deal rather than buying someone' used one.

    Any other recommendations appreciated.

I'm sure it will fit, but it's most certainly chineseum. The machining is the only variable, specifically the oil pump pocket. Maybe someone can offer first hand experience. You'll have to purchase a timing tab also. They bolt on. Your old cover has it cast into the cover. The TA covers are more money, but they are machined by TA so you know they will be right.

If it's a porosity, JB weld it, or a small crack, have it heliarced (maybe about $10 or so)....Providing your oil pump cavity is not scored up badly.

Yes, If your cover can be repaired with epoxy (JB Weld) Id do that as opposed to getting a new one.
BUT, if you need a new cover, I would purchase it from TA Performance.
As Larry said, the machining of the cover is extremely critical!
The problem with aftermarket covers is the machining MAY BE QUESTIONABLE:shock:

+10. That is not an area you want to gamble on.

Their site says they machine them but does not say he manufacture them. I wonder if they just redo a Chinese product. Will have to call an ask.

    alec296 i need another buick

Either is a copy of the later cover which will require plastic timing tab. Ta has those I believe.

I did not get a chance to check with TA but I did call Summit and the cover for $102 is made in the USA.
