    Hello Everyone,

I am in the middle of restoring my 1970 Wildcat. My gas tank is in bad shape and there is no one that I know of in Wisconsin that restores gas tanks. Does anyone Know where I can find a nice restored gas tank for a decent price?

I'd give this place a call, I've heard they are awesome and maybe they'll have what you're looking for.

Your 70 is a B body buick I believe and so is a 71-72 Centurion which is remade.

Perhaps someone knows if they are close in fit.

To the best of my knowledge, the gas tanks for 69-70 Wildcat and LeSabre are exculsive. Other units won't work because of the location of the mounting straps. I did a pretty exhaustive search a few years ago, and that's what I found out. I'm not sure about the Electra crossing over in to the application - the gas filler neck apears to be different. It could probably be made to work.

Also - if I remember correctly, the 69 units are sealed all around and the 70 units have a vent in the upper corner, passenger side. You can interchange them, just use a vented cap with the non-vented tank and vis versa. I have a 69 tank in my 70.

I also found a company that can cut the tanks open, clean and repair any damage, and restore the tank to original specs. It's a franchise so there's several locations in the US. It's expensive, but I did see one of their completed projects and it was impressive. If you need the name, let me know and I'll dig up my papers from a few years ago.

I'm currently trying to buy a 69 or 70 for front end parts. If I'm successful and get one with a decent tank, I'll let you know.

I just checked my Buick Chassis/Parts Manual. It shows all Lesabre Wildcat and Electra's having the same tank 1967 to 1970. There are 2 different filler necks shown (one for 67 and one for 69) but other than that, according to this manual, all the tanks are the same. They all have the 2 vent tubes at the upper corner passenger side and the hole for the sender about in the middle.
I have an almost perfect tank from a 69 Electra - with a sale pending to someone on this board. If he passes I'll let you know.
