That is the same car, color and all that I bought as a repo in the 70`s for $500 and fixed up and sold to a kid for 1500$ because I hated the color. I wish I still had it though. I would live with the color now. It was a running fool, I loved smoking the tires.
In 1970 Code 68 was the most common color on the GS...not sure why. It does look much better fresh than when faded.
Glen Burnished Saddle was the most popular color in 1970 for the followings reasons: 1.Each General Motors Division back than had an exclusive color that the other divisions were not allowed to have .Guess what color was exclusive to Buick ..Yes Burnished Saddle.Pontiac had Verdoro Green ,how many 68-70 Pontiac's have you seen painted Olive green, plenty I am sure. 2.As you know, the "in" colors back then were earth tones and Burnished saddle filled the bill perfectly.
The lack of options and color will definetly hold that car back. If I were going to drop stage one cash I would need buckets, console, sport wheel. all the cool options. at least it has guages. not much of a description either.. disc brakes? posi? documentation? not to mention, only a fool would get in and drive it. it likely needs every rubber hose replaced, I'd bet a water pump and fuel pump too, and probably a carb rebuild. probably looking at an additional 1000 in parts just to make it roadworthy. sweeeet white walls man! ou:
I was checking ebay and this car's buy it now was reduced to $90,000 and it looks like they have an offer on Dec 30 that is pending. Wonder what price are they at? Steve
funny i was watching the replay of last years barrett jackson and saw what looked to be this same car at least option and colorwise....................55.000
Did anyone notice that the rear bumper didn't have the BUICK center black plate on it? All '70 skylark bumpers have that plate, even though someone on this site stated some time back that some didn't. If so, then it must of been a mistake from the factory or the car was hit at one time and the body shop never put one on.
the base model pillar coupe's didnt have the plate and there were no holes in the bumper for the plate either. i had one and asked about it at that time. heres the thread i posted. http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=57555
I had a 1970 6 banger skylark with no holes in the bumper for the emblem and of course no emblem. It was so base it had no rocker panels. It just had a thin molding along the bottom instead.
You are right , he should have taken that and run, now he has to go the the process again and he might not ever get 90k or close to it. Emotions must be playing in to it.
This car is relisted on Ebay with a BIN of $77,000. It will interesting to see if it sells this time. I still think that is still too much, but what do i know.
Funny how it was listed yesterday at 77K BIN and today it's listed at 85K BIN! Must have grown more valuable overnight! I wonder what it will be listed at tomorrow?!
