Nice. Thanks Joe. Your old Stage 1 looked sweet - bench seat car too. Were those Buick super sport rims with beauty rings on my convertible - body color?

Who in their right mind would want that color combo? Just kidding, I think you're talking about my car, it's in the registry, 70 Stage 1, Gulfstream Blue, Black top, blue bucket interior.

Here's an old pic of my daughter and grandpa.

Thank you very much! Any luck locating a car? In all the years I've had Buicks, I don't think I've ever seen another like mine. Bill Wills is similar but black interior. There was a similar one years ago at a muscle car dealer, I can't recall the interior color, Gulfstream blue, black top but a 4 speed. Local guy bought it and ended up w a Dart bbc in it. The guy was killed and I never saw the car again. At one time I bought my 1000 cfm TQ from him, that was 88 or 89. Good luck with your search!

There was just such a car here in Columbus, but it has been more than a few years. Kelly Hartman purchased it from long time Buick fan Tom Ulery. It was Gulfstream Blue, and had black buckets, but I don't remember if it had a vinyl top. Kelly had bought a pair of iron Stage 2 heads, and was looking for a non-air car to use them in. Tom's Stage 1 fit the bill. Trouble is...Kelly eventually turned car into a White GSX Clone, but it was nicely restored/modified. If memory serves, the car eventually went to a buyer in the Pacific Northwest. So it likely still exists, but not in it's original color and configuration. I think I still have the quarter extensions from that car, as Kelly needed a pair that were not drilled for the trim, and we made a trade.

There was an older guy on an episode of Passtime (old speed channel show) that made a pass in an Apollo white 70 GSX clone. He said it was a real 70 Stage 1 that was cloned to an X. Older guy if I remember. I believe that show was filmed in Washington state.

    Jim,

    Not sure if it's the same car, But I purchased a 1970 10-10 Stage 1 GS from Warren Hartman in 1999 (It was a GSX clone with iron Stage 2 heads). CAR2NV.jpg 5-16-03 013.jpg 5-16-03 049.jpg 5-16-03.jpg

    Scott.

I can't imagine it being a different car. Looks from the documentation like it was originally WHITE.! Maybe that influenced Kelly's (Warren Hartman) decision to clone it into a GSX. Either way, it was Gulfstream blue when Tom Ulery sold it, and I never looked at the Fisher body plate. I guess that takes it out of the running as a replacement for Joe's old car.

The original steering wheel from my GSX is on that car. I had stumbled on to an NOS wheel, and Warren caught me at a what I will call weak moment. I supplied the rally clock as well. This all occurred about 1991 I think.

A local dirt track racer, Gene Whittnal, had two pair of iron Stage 2 heads for sale. Trey Musgrove bought the set that had been ported by Crane, and Kelly bought the other pair, which If I recall, were unmodified. It always pained me a little that neither set stayed here in Columbus, but both pair sold on running cars, and I just wasn't in a position financially to acquire them.

Do you still own the car?

    EDIT:

HERE THEY ARE.!!!. I wonder now if there is white paint under the blue. Blue on the back side as well.
