I just saw it on eBay and PM'd you Mike, then saw you had already posted this link. Was wondering when it would pop up.

Yep, sure is. I hope the potential buyers read the old thread here first...nice, decent, real car but, as I found out the hard way, not numbers-matching engine. The guy did buy the rear end from me too, I wonder if it made it into the car? Looks like the old rear still in it, or am I wrong? It had a 12-bolt Chevy in it when I sold it, but the original ON rear went with the car. He paid me what I paid for it over the price of the car. Seemed like a nice guy but he's not proving to be very honest in his description.

I believe it to be the same guy I sold it to, he lives in KC. He has a friend listing it for him. It is a decent car, and it is a real Stage 1 with numbers tranny, and I gave him a Donny ditributor that was new and sold him a correct "ON" rear, that I bought from JKC, if those things are included it would be a much better package, but the auction makes no mention of these items.

Like any other car, it is worth what someone will pay for it. I would guess low to mid-twenties, definitely mid-twenties if he is including the "ON" rearend and new distributor.

You were clear in your description that the original block was gone and the one in the car was a restamp, so he's blatantly misrepresenting it as the ORIGINAL block. Very disheartening. If the buyer does any research, he'll probably wind up in litigation.

I emailed the sellers agent, and he said that he didn't know it was restamped. It does have the ON rearend installed. Said alot of money spent on car since owner bought it. He wants 30K for the car.
He said he will modify the ad about the matching#.

May be worth close to that with the rear and distributor, I would say mid-twenties at least. Of course, when I was selling it, many tried to tell me it was worth less...but we all know they were just trying to score a deal ;-)

I would think no buckets or ac would make it worth less.

It depends on who's looking at it, the base interior is pretty hard to find from what I understand...it's a no-frills car with the go fast options only, so it's pretty desirable in my opinion, but there's nothing in it for me...that's just my opinion.

Again, it is worth what someone will pay for it.

The 1971 GS455 non-Stage car at the auction here in Ohio Thursday apparently brought $19,500.

That correct non-air 3.64 Posi "ON" rear end alone cost $2500 and I had offers to buy it for way more than that.

So much for the $30k, $14,555 and next bid meets reserve. Probably lowered it now that he has to come clean about the block.

Now THAT would be a deal! He's taking a major loss if that's the case.

"It has been brought to my attention this morning that the previous owner was not 100% honest with us when we purchased the car. Evidently there has been research done that states that the engine block is a re-stamp."

    Ouch!

The owner told the listing person to drop the reserve because of the restamp.

The funny thing is that Mike disclosed this in his auction, so the owner knew. He was just trying to see if he could get away with passing it off as the original block.

If he just learned today that he got screwed, rather than rolling over and dropping the reserve, don't you think he would have cancelled the auction and called his attorney?

Maybe there was an owner between Mike and this owner that did the restamp?? The car is in the Kansas City,MO. area. I live here and would be interested if it had ac,and buckets. I need to sell a LOADED 70 GS455
before I can get another car.
