Hi all, posting this for Jim's daughter, they have decided to sell his car (he passed away approximately 1 year ago). Factory diplomat blue, repainted in 2012 (very nice job), door jambs and trunk still original paint. I believe no body panels have been replaced. Numbers matching engine and trans rebuilt in 2007, probably 5k miles or less? AC also redone. Cliff Ruggles re-did original carb. I believe distributor is original. Interior original and still in nice condition, aftermarket kick panel speakers added, and I think the front driver's seat had a few seam splits starting (had seat covers on it). You can post questions here and I can try to answer them (I last saw the car in April 2015 or so) or contact Angela via email.
Dang Chris, I thought I heard about Jim's passing. He was a top notch fellow. That car is a very nice original car sans the repaint. MarkO
Crap,I didn't know he passed either. He was a heck of a guy,I spent most of my down time at the Puyallup shows talking with him.I do know he loved that car & originally ordered a 69 stg 1 but the 70 455 stg 1 was available when he got back from Veitnam.
Yeah it's pretty sad. Jim was a very close and dear friend. My dad and I have been taking care of the car and helping his wife out with the car. I really hope this car goes to a good home. It is a one of a kind car. It had so much history in my neck of the woods. My grandpa worked at haselwood Buick as a mechanic all threw the 60's-70's and worked on this car when it was new. It has always been well kept up and always garaged. There is not a spec of rust in this car and has never had any rust. All original body panels and it was basically just a repaint on the outside. It was painted base coat clear coat by a well known painter around the area. Jambs are original paint ( Jim wanted to save the oil change decals in the jambs) in the door jambs. Original vinyl top and interior. You won't find a nicer car out there!
Thanks for posting the pics Dan! When I was there last year it was wet, so we didn't take the car outside.
That car is a time capsule and Jim is a great guy and I always had nice talks together about our cars and his Blue Bomber's unique history. Had just conversed with him at Puyallup at the 2014 show and wow its hard to believe he has moved on. Somebody's going to get a cool 1970 Buick GS Stage 1...that's for sure! I hope they appreciate it... Buick Eric / Oregon :3gears:
Sorry to hear of another Buick guys passing. Looks like a great car and the 65 in the picture looks great with the Cragars. Was that his car too?
Hi all, I decided to set up an account and write all of you for being such good friends of my Dad's. His Buick was really his first child and I'm so grateful that we have friends to help us out now. The Harpers have been indispensable and so has Chris. It's been really hard, but we're doing alright thanks to everyone. My Dad wasn't sick for long. Two months before he died, he entrusted me to sell the Buick on behalf of my mother. It was one of the hardest conversations I've ever had, but I was honored. The Buick means a lot to me and I hope that someone will give it a new home and love it as much as he did. I was actually allowed to drive it and I'm going to miss that! Thank you all again so much. Angela
Chrisco...That second picture (over the fender with the hood open) that she sent you is wonderfully priceless! Buick Eric / Oregon :3gears:
What a Great looking car... I wish the family all the best and good luck with the sell of the car. You just cannot get any better, what a lucky new owner will be........... Nelson
