    Chris Lott 4 speed finally

Shouldn't the shorty center console be black? I don't think I've ever seen a white one. Not to rant...

    Chris,

The console in my car is white. It is the early type as the car was built the third week of Sept 69.

I almost bought a 70 455 4spd several years ago that looked alot like this car.
The thing ran like a bear, torque of a 455 with a 4spd and 3.64 gear feel's GOOD! :Brow:

I'd be careful. He doesnt say its an original 4 speed car. Shifter handle doesnt look like a 5335. Nice car otherwise

    4 spd 455 on ebay

Has anyone actually looked at this car in person? I'm not too concerned if it isn't a real GS 455 4spd car per the vin - just curious if the car is solid up close vs. the pictures.

My best advice to anyone buying a car via the internet..

If your spending that kind of money, buy a plane ticket and go look at the car in person. Its money well spent. Or at the very least have someone from the board whos in the area look at it for you. Unless its a $500 car, I would never buy a car sight unseen.

I have bought 2 cars over the internet......one was a POS, and one was nice.

Jason is right - it is a HUGE gamble if you do not know the seller well.

    Lots of crooks out there.

my plan would be to drive out & pick-it up to eliminate some of the risk. The auction ends in 2 days. If someone has seen the car personnally, it could the amount I would be willing to pay.

I will RESTATE what Jason typed...... DO NOT BUY A CAR OVER THE INTERNET WITHOUT LOOKING AT IT FIRST. My best advice is LOOK AT IT YOURSELF. :Smarty: :Smarty: :spank: :TU:

Well boys, this is cool, sold my chevelle to a guy in N.J. and drove to NY and bought this car. I new nothing about Buicks. Prob paid too much but now there is engine problems def paid too much, but I do like the car, and am learning a lot so ____ happens. Anyway was NEVER on a Buick post til after I bought it, so pretty cool that I found the link when it was on Ebay. I wanted a Buick since I was 14 back in the 80's, am 33 so pretty rare desire for my generation. Thanks to my uncle who always took the time to teach me and let me hang around with the guys and listen to oldies while wet sanding his truck.

Anyway I thought Buicks pulled as much money as the chevelles but I dont think that will be the case, and I would be embarrassed to tell what I paid.

Don't worry about paying too much. It's a hobby and have loads of fun playing with your car, the prices are getting out of control anyway. I work in West Nyack up the street where you bought this car and live in North Jersey and if you need anything, let me know. I'm having fun restoring my car, no matter how much $$ I put into it.. I'll see all of you at the Nationals. :beer

    Thanks,

Did you run Sloan/W Roberts documentation on your car to see what your GS was originally?
    Nice car by the way.

    69GS400s ...my own amusement ride!

Since this IS a Buick board and no one has said it yet, I won't feel bad saying .....

.....No matter what you spent, you didn't over-pay to swing your :moonu: Butt out of a Chevelle and into a Buick !!

I cant begin to tell you how many times I go to a Cruise nite and look at a SEA of Chevelle's .... and there's my hotrod sitting there with not another like it for miles and miles around -> Priceless !!!

Welcome aboard - and dont forget to thank your Uncle for his good taste :beer

Well I will say this, I did sit with those sea of Chevelles, and I need to get this thing running good, cause I just cant wait to take it out. The buick community is really cool at helping each other, and since I have been researching oil pumps, pressures, driver side oiling problems, the learning has been fun.

Yes I am glad to be part of the Buick club. Now that I am becoming a fan of the 455, I am now following the Riviera's and all, really fun.

Have not even talked to a Buick guy in person ever, so wont that be a treat. As a side not at least the car is a true GS 455 so I at least got that part right, really doubt an original 4 spd, but it has it now and it is fun.

Hi rd1970gs, and welcome to Buicks :beer

We're friendly 'round these parts and like to address people by their name - what's yours?

There will be a HUGE Buick picnic at Yardley's crib (4th annual) on Saturday May 5 in Holland PA. It would be great to see you and your car there :beer

Stay tuned to this website for details :bglasses:
